Pig Roast?

First a little backround. We are getting married this September in Tolland, CT. We have a small guest list 60-80 people. We are going for a more casual feel.

We are looking into having a pig roast. Has anyone had one and would recomdend the caterer who did it? Has anyone used Pete the Butcher? We just got a quote from Pete but have not had a tasting or anything yet. Any other recommendations for a BBQ caterer?

TIA

hmmm... the bbq caterers that I can think of aren't necessarily that close, but it would be worth inquiring.  I am also not sure if they would do a whole pig or not, but you can ask.  If either would, I would assume Jeff would be more likely.

There's The Cookhouse based out of New Milford. http://www.thecookhouse.com/ and Jeff's Cuisine based out of Norwalk.  http://www.jeffscuisine.com/ Jeff's actually has a smoker that he hitches to a truck and takes it for catering jobs.... not sure if the cookhouse does.  I would highly recommend both when it comes to the quality of their food.

A friend of mine did this for his bachelor party and the guy came and cooked and served everything for them.  DH said it was amazing food.  I will send my friend an e-mail to see who did the cooking for it and let you know.

There’s Little Mark’s Big BBQ which is located in Vernon, we’ve used them in the past for catering but, not for a pig roast. They have wonderful bbq food. Here’s the link: www.littlemarksbbq.ccom

I'd second Little Mark's Big BBQ! Their food is awesome! We were just there on Friday and I was looking at the pig roast catering thinking it would be an awesome idea for a more casual wedding

Thank you all for you quick responses! I will look into all the options you have given me. I appreciate any other opinions or options you can give me.

If anyone has any experience with Pete the Butcher I would appreciate you thoughts. My FI is impressed with the quote he got from him. Thanks!

My date isn't until mid July so I can't vouch for the day of quality, but we're having Black Eyed Sally's in Hartford cater and so far they have been amazing. Their prices are definately reasonable and they are very open to customization.
