Newly engaged and overwhelmed!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Dayna and I got engaged about a month ago now!

I'm originally from Canada, my fiance is from New Zealand and we're currently living in London, UK. We got engaged on a weekend trip to the Champagne region in France (you can read the whole story here: http://mattanddayna.wordpress.com/2012/11/08/how-i-proposed-to-dayna/)

We're avid travellers and with family in 2 countries it makes sense to have our wedding somewhere (kind of) in the middle so we've decided Hawaii works best for us. To add to the long list of places associated with our relationship, we're also thinking that we'll stopover in Las Vegas for our Bachelor/ette parties and on the way back to London from the wedding, we'll have a 'honeymoon' of sorts in New York.

Phew. My head is already spinning and the wedding isn't even going to happen until August - November 2014!

Anyway, there's so much information out there on the internet that I thought I'd introduce myself and ask where a good starting point is?

We're open to getting a package or hiring a wedding coordinator but it's hard to know which ones are good and which aren't!

Anyway, any help you can give me will be appreciated :)

Thanks in advance!

I would suggest deciding on a specific island first! That can help narrow down the coordinator, locations, etc :) Congratulations!

Welcome and Congratulations! I would also suggest picking an island first. You may find some of the vendors slow to reply at first because your date is so far out. Don't worry it's just a slower pace and they don't usually book past the next year out.

Congratulations! Girls are right, you do have plenty of time, most venues didn't book until 12-14 months in advance. A wedding planner may be a good option for you since you seem to have ALOT going on!

Thanks everyone! I think we've settled on Oahu as it has the most options. I'm a little concerned that most of the packages I've looked at don't include a reception? So hard finding information!

Oh believe me it's a frickin headache!!!! I am not doing as much traveling as you guys are but our date is Feb 4th, 2015 and because of finance reasons our guests are asking for a head's up (early!!!) because of financial situations for most of us. Anyways, from what I gathered from my research the only places that offer ceremony and reception are the hotels. We've chosen Oahu (Honolulu) area for our DW. The place I'm having my reception at is further inland but beautiful, but they also offer ceremony and reception options.

http://koolauballrooms.com/ looking at Oahu i recommend them. their pricing isn't bad either =)
