Engagement Photos

My fiance and I have been engaged for over a year now (he proposed Feb. 2011) We are college students, we are both 22, and we were 21 when he proposed.

The wedding is set for August of 2013 and we booked a wonderful photographer who was wondering if we are interested in having an engagment session for photos. Probably in May right after we graduate.

Have we waited too long for engagement photos? We did not get them initially because we had no money. If we get them in May we are still a year and a few months from the wedding. Be we will have already been engaged for a year and a half...

Is it too late?

Nope. Hell, my photographer told me half the couples she does, end up doing "engagement" photos after they're married.

It's never too late to get nice photos of you and your man.

Do you want to use them for anything, like save the dates? Here in Utah the use engagement photos on wedding invitations all the time (something I've never seen anywhere else). So if you just want them to have nice photos that can be done whenever you want.

We just did ours and our wedding is only like 4 months away. There's nothing wrong with waiting awhile to take engagement photos.

We did ours around the holidays. We had been engaged for almost 2 years at that point. I don't think there is such thing as "too late" in this case!

Totally agree with PP, it is not too late! I like ginagog's idea for using them as savethedates! Also you'll be able to see how the photographers works with the two of you. Good luck!

We're having ours done this summer, and the wedding is in October. We've been engaged almost a year already. Agree with PP that it's never too late as a lot of engagement shoots are also a trial run with your photographer.

They were part of the wedding photographer's package. They used one for their wedding announcement.

In NYC, only the New York Times carries wedding announcements and they have to be submitted 6 or 8 weeks before the wedding so they can vet the info.

We're using ours this August, at which point we will have been engaged for two years. Our wedding is in January, so this is our chance to take pictures in parks and other outdoor places without freezing.

My FI and I took E-pics shortly after we got engaged, but hadn't set a date. We ended up taking more about 2 months before our wedding date, which was almost 2 years after the first set we took. I agree that you can take them whenever you want.
