I did something horrible!

I gave my FH a botched haircut three months before the wedding and a week before our engagement photos!

And now I'm afraid to fix it because I think it might not grow back long enough for the barber to cut it for our wedding if I do! (FH looks goofy with hair cut too short, and it's already too short!)

Surprised

Should I buzz it short so he doesn't look like a doofus and then have it too short at our wedding or deal with him looking like a doofus for 3 months until he gets it cut for our wedding?

You should probably let him decide what he wants to do with his own head.

Can't do that. Last time I did that, he let his horribly unfashionable roommate give him this really horrendous cross between a bowl cut and a flat top complete with bald spots on the back and he was going to leave it. Now it is an unspoken rule that any hair the grows on his head is my territory.

And if he would have just SAT STILL, we wouldn't have this problem now!

I'm sorry, but it's a little bizarre to me that you don't allow him to decide how to keep his own hair.  You kind of sound like his mother in your posts.

Send him to a barber and let him work it out with the barber.  Obviously you cutting his hair for him hasn't worked out so well.

I vote he decides and go to a barber.  But I have a thing against controlling someone else's body.  Suggestions are one thing, control is another.

You sound like a mom talking about her 5-year-old child. For real. That's not what somebody should sound like when talking about the adult they're planning on marrying.

Send him to a barber and just have the 2 of them work it out. Bottom line, though: His hair, his decision.

If a man laid claim to a woman's appearance the way you are doing with your FI, I would be quite concerned for her.  You need to step back and let the man be who he is and stop worrying about whether or not you approve of his hair.

If you don't know how to cut hair, then you shouldn't be cutting his hair. Send him to a barber shop and let the professionals cut his hair, the way he wants his hair cut.

So tell me, besides cutting his hair, what other decisions is he not allowed to make for himself?

Professionals are just that and they know what to do in situations like this.  FFS, send him to a barber shop/Supercuts/Great Clips.

I also find it a little disturbing that you decide his hairstyle for him.

@Bunnychii...lol.  I thought the same thing.

My FI usually has to threaten his 5 year old son with a spanking to get him to sit still for a haircut. Maybe that would work on your FI too.

Get real.  Send him to the barber.  If they buzz it, they buzz it.  If not, it'll get cleaned up somehow.  His head, his decision.

Maybe you should consider NOT cutting his hair again.

    edited February 2012
I tried cutting my FI's hair once. I finished just about all of it, then took off the guard to clean up his neck. After that I realized I missed a little spot at his temple, so I went to fix it... OOPS the guard was still off! I heard a loud ZZZIIIPP and there was a big thick bald spot. I cried my eyes out because I was ALMOST EFFING DONE! He wasn't mad and actually laughed at my reaction. I have not touched the cutters since. He hasn't asked either.

My story doesn't really have anything to do with yours, except the fact that he didn't care. MOST guys could care less about their hair while girls tend to over-react with it. It's just hair, it grows back. If you are that worried about what his hair will look like at the wedding (3 months out, I'm sure you're in the clear), massage his head and that makes the hair follicles stimulated... and causes them to grow faster. I doubt he'll argue with you... or get him male extensions if there is such a thing.

I did FIs hair with the dog clippers a few days ago. It was his suggestion and I was so nervous doing it but it looks great and he got a lot of compliments. And we found a new way to save money.

hahahaha I am a cosmetologist and these posts make me lmao! I dont know why people try to cut someones hair without really knowing how. There is a reason we go to school for this, and have to have a license. Some of you may think your haircut you gave is awesome... but...... I bet a professional would laugh. Not to be rude but let a professional do it.
