I got engaged 2 1/2 weeks ago! Here's my story..
My boyfriend (at the time) told me that were were going into Chicago one night to meet his parents for dinner. (we live in the suburbs, about an hour outside of Chicago) So we decided to take the train in. After we got to the train station he told me that the restaurant was only 3 blocks away, so we could walk there. While walking I noticed a beautiful white horse and carriage on the side of the road, I said "Oh Chris! Look how beautiful that is!" and he got this huge cheesy grin on his face and said "That's for you". We then walked up to the carriage and the lady greeted us with "Hello Chris and Caitlyn!" I was in complete shock. Then we took an hour carriage ride around the city, looking at all of the beautiful Christmas lights. He then asked the driver to take us to the huge Chicago Christmas tree so we could take pictures. Once we got to the tree, he told me to get my camera out to take pictures... while I was getting my camera out, he snuck around in front of me and got down on his knee. There was literally 200 people here (Chicago is a busy place!). Everyone actually started yelling and congratulating us! Random strangers were taking pictures of us.. it was amazing! Then after this, we got back into the carriage and they took us back to the train station. I thought this was the end of our night.. but then he surprised me with a dinner at the John Hancock Signature Lounge Tower on the 95th floor. It's the second tallest building in Chicago and he reserved the suite for us all the way at the top of the building. We had the best dinner I've ever had. He also asked them ahead of time to write on our desert; so we ordered cheese cake and in chocolate they wrote "Congratulations on your Engagement" and they brought it out all lit-up with candles. It was truly a night I will never forget.
