Snarky Brides

Good Morning! Happy Friday!

Happy Friday/long weekend.

I'm off for vacation.  Or 'nofunnowaynohow' adventures, according to kd.  Come on along!  Anna would join me, I'm sure.

Fun weekend plans?  Fun no-plans weekend?

Re: Good Morning! Happy Friday!

  • Good morning! I'm so glad it's finally Friday, although I realized it's the last day of August which is crazy and makes me sad that summer is ending.

FI and I are heading to my parents house down the shore tonight. Going to the beach tomorrow and coming home on Sunday to do boring stuff around the apartment (cleaning, laundry, food shopping). On Monday, I want to relax and eat hotdogs. And potato salad.

  • Morning. I have a drs appt and im on call for work. Since its gonna be 93 degrees today im pretty sure someone is going to call out. Ill be pissed if they do. It will be 4 Fridays in a row.

  • I'm going to try to get myself out of this funk over the stupid job thing. Will probably work more on the garage and do some reading. We're not going anywhere because we want to get as much done around the house as we can before work starts again, all of our family is on the island, and we're pretty much broke from the last vacation and renos.

And I'm going to try to finish the book I'm reading. I'm finding this one tedious, but have so much invested in the series now, I don't want to give up.

  • Blue, that really sucks. I remember you saying you've been called in the last few Fridays. Fingers crossed nobody calls out today so you can enjoy the day.

Jenny, what are you reading? I need some suggestions for my vacation in a week.

  • Good Morning!!
No ones in the office this morning and I love it. I'm multitasking between the knot and actual work. Wedding planning...Birthday Party for a friend and the cottage (where I will be spending my Birthday). I'm trying to stay focused on eating the right foods and drinks. But long weekends are so hard and are always full of temptations. lol

  • Morning!

Les, I would pee in the woods with you.

I slept like crap last night.  Allergens int he air must be really bad the last few days since they nearly brought me to an asthma attack.  Yuck.  Maybe fall is coming?  My allergies always get bad then.

I'm off to clean today, then working on a thesis this afternoon, and then hopefully finding time to be a tad crafty before I have to make dinner.
  • Blue, just don't answer your phone. Say you lost it.

I'm mostly looking forward to making banana pudding tonight. I'm going to attempt a layer of vanilla pudding and then top it with chocolate. We shall see whether it's awesome or a gooey mess.

Hey rdr, I'm reading the Game of Thrones series, and am in book four. When the tv show came out FI was watching an episode and I thought it was ridiculous. But then we started from the beginning and I was totally hooked!

Midwives is an awesome book too. Someone was reading that on another thread, and I remembered how much I loved that one.

Depends on what you like to read, but I also enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse series WAY more than I thought I would. Somewhat predictable, but the writing was good.

I'll give any book 100 pages to impress me, and there have only been half a dozen that I put down after that.

By the time i got to book four, I felt exactly the same way. Burnt out on them, almost. I read them one right after another and wish I had done some lighter reading between. I still haven't read the fifth book and it's been about six months now.

  • And good morning, everyone!

No big weekend plans here. Had planned to go camping in Hot Springs, but with the expected rain there we decided to cancel. I am trying to convince H that we should just stay home and relax, since we are busy every weekend until the end of the year starting next weekend. He is not buying it though. I really just want to relax, read, and watch football!

I tried to get into that first Game of Thrones book but I just couldn't!  I hear the books are great, though..I might have to try again.

I have a boring weekend ahead of me.  Tonight is the first Michigan State football game of the season (FI and I are alumni) so we're making beer-bq chicken (got the recipe from someone in the SB board!!) and watching the game.  Then he works late parties at the zoo Saturday-Monday so I'll have a lot of time to myself!  I want to clean REALLY well on Saturday since the in-laws are coming down next weekend, and then I plan on sitting on my booty for 2 glorious days :)

  • Here's a story. We hired a new girl here..she was actually a transfer. Really nice, good, liked it, etc. She told people she'd see us tomorrow and then didn't show. Hasn't shown in 3 days. Can't get ahold of her. Found her emergency contact, they don't know where she is. I have a really bad feeling. She moved here bc she's getting a divorce. I just hope she's okay. Very pumped for this weekend. Football, beach, wedding! And my sisters!!

  • I don't think I could handle GoT. I LOVE the show, but have a hard time keeping everyone straight so I have a feeling the books would frustrate me even more.

I'm starting to regret challenging myself to only read indie books for 1 year. I know that, as an indie author, I should be more supportive, but the books I've selected lately are just awful. Goodreads reviewers lie is all I can say. Now I don't want to read anything.

Well, I did enjoy Collapse. But the ones after were a struggle. I've been on page 20 of the latest book for like 2 weeks now.

  • Morning Ladies!

Les-Enjoying peeing in the woods! You are a better woman than I!

    Al57-Enjoy the chicken.

We leave for lovely Van Wert Ohio tomorrow. We usually meet up with H's Mom, Sister. BIL, nephew and his wife and kids at the fair, but is seems this year no one will be there. Nice of someone to keep us informed after we made reservations.

But we get to spend a little time with my MIL, and get some estate stuff settled, finally!

And H and I will enjoy the fair by ourselves, he asked if I wanted to cancell, but what the hell it'll be a nice time away and no animals. Then we're coming home and getting some stuff done around the hosue.

At this point I mainly just watch/pay attention to the leads. Dani and her dragons, the little a-hole Jeoffrey and his mother, Tyrion, and the girl whose name I am totally blanking on (posing as a boy). OH and John Snow, of course.

The rest, whatever. I can take or leave them.

That's crazy! I would be spending my weekend watching football and reading, too!

Busy day here as it just hit me how much I need to do before next week. Looking at taking a quick trip to Barbados for a long weekend in November. Flying to Dallas Wednesday to spend a week with my mom, go dress shopping, and pick out some new side stones for my ring since I chipped my great-grandmother's sapphires already. Sigh.

Lots of stuff to catch up on at home. Going dress shopping today for an event I'm attending with my mom while in Dallas...

BBQ at neighbor's house on Sunday.

    And a full day's worth of work! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

  • Capone, that's a bit unsettling.  I hope she's okay!

Blue, hopefully you don't have to work.  I'd be annoyed.  Is it the same person each time?

Nothing much on tap for me this weekend.  I'm heading to see my mom  to get some wedding things done since I've been out of commission.  She keeps texting me with all of the food she's buying.  Gotta love Italian moms.

I was getting really burnt out on game of thrones because I made the mistake of reading them all back to back. Now I'm on Dance with Dragons and I'm hooked again. This one has all the characters I like back in it (Tyrion, Dany, Jon) and its getting so good. I loved season one of the show but season two sucked for me. I didn't even want to watch it after the first couple of episodes but H isn't reading the books so he loves it, and if it's on I'll watch lol. Anyway, I just had a fabulous breakfast of protein oatmeal pancakes and an egg white omelet! I did an early run this morning so I'm feeling pretty great! I wish every Friday could be like this. We'll be off to the beach in a few hours and I can't wait!

  • Acaponi, I hope your coworker is okay.

I'm just hoping today's PM shift goes by fast for me.  No Saturday hours at the clinic this weekend so a true 3 day w/e for me!  However, I do get to help my best friend's daughter start packing up her apt tomorrow to move back home.  Her FI (xFI) left her 2 weeks ago.  Stole her laptop, some jewelry, and all the money in their joint acct (which was mostly her money).  She also found out that he was stealing from his workplace as well.  Such a good boy :(  I'm sure his mother is very proud.

Les, have fun on vacation!  Nothing from the "cheese" yet?
  • That is disturbing about the missing co-worker.

FI is a huge Thrones fan, and has schooled me through all the existing episodes/seasons.

I have a small shower tomorrow..sprinkle? Sprinkle she said. Lunch with the family before that, my Grandmother will turn 82 on Tuesday, and we are spending time with her before we go to my friend's house, the hostess. We have both of our 12 year olds this week-end, so I am just hoping for peace and quiet

  • Good morning lovlies!

Les, have fun on your vacation!
Kd, how is pup feeling today?

I found out last night FI and I get to have a four day trip to Cancun in October. I've never been out of the country and I'm so stocked about it. I can't wait.

I can't find any good books lately.  I thought Gone Girl was going to be good but a poster (i don't remember who) gave a bad review so I changed my mind since I was on the fence about it anyway.
  • Oh and Blue, is it the same person calling out every Friday? That would piss me off.
  • I do find GoT overwhelming. There are too many characters, and I focus on the main stories mostly. My eyes gloss over when the author starts talking about Lord so-and-so who's great uncle twice removed lost an ear to someone else. But the books made it easier for me to follow the series. It'll be different this season since things have changed from the book.

I love Tyrion and Arya (the girl dressed as a boy), and don't think that I've ever hated a character as much as Joffrey. That says something about the writer.

Seshat - if you like indie authors, check out "Away from Everywhere" by Chad Pelley. He's a friend of mine. It's a dark read, but very well done for a first novel. He just sold the film rights.

"Come Thou Tortoise" by Jessica Grant is also awesome. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first, but it's such an awesome story.

I'd be pretty freaked if a co-worker vanished, especially if she's going through a divorce and no one knows where she is ...

He's fine Amber, unless he keeps crapping on the floor, then he might find himself in some serious trouble. He's goes to Camp Bow Wow for a few days this weekend, so hopefully that will run off some energy. The only downside is I think thats where the crapping in the house stemmed from, going whereever. Plus my H doesnt listen, but thats another story ;)

Al- I really wouldnt worry too much, I've had employees I thought were wonderful flake out on me before. If you are really worried can you have the sheriff do a "well check" on her?
I have to be honest, if she is going through a divorce and he is violent and she needed to go to a shelter, no one will be allowed to tell you anything. Hope she's ok.

  • Hope she's ok Al.

I'm guiltily thrilled that the trip to San Diego with the nieces and the dogs has not worked out.  Oldest niece is scheduled to work all 3 days and can't find anyone to trade with.  We'll pick another weekend and plan it right this time.  So now I'm looking forward to a long weekend of some house projects, pool time (BFs house) and some time with my mom for her birthday on Monday.
