I decided to go with Sandia for the reception because a lot of things are included in the per person price and there wasn't an additional site fee or a minimum to make (which is a problem at a lot of other places). For a sit down dinner or buffet, cake, champagne toast, basic centerpiece, linens, and a room for the bride and groom it's $65/pp and I think to have hors d'eourves was another $10 or $20 a person (I remember there are two more levels). And then the bar is $100, plus per drink costs ($5-7 for booze, $3 for soda - if anyone wants a coke, I'm sending them to the casino, jk). They have menus, but you can talk to them about changing some things.

For doing a ceremony out there, it's around $1500, so we're not doing the ceremony out there

We are going with Hyatt Regency Downtown because of the best package per person! I looked into Sandia but there were too many hidden/additional fees....Our package includes:

1 hour FREE open bar (and they will stay for the entire duration of your wedding at no additional cost...cash bar)

$50 per adult meal which includes salad, steak or chicken and champagne toast

$20 per child meal (Hyatt was the ONLY place we found that offers a cheaper menu for children...Shoot, I'm not paying $50 for a 5 yr old to eat!)

Linens, tables, dance floor, and uplighting all included

    No cake cuting/serving fee

Free suite for bride and groom

No space rental fee and no minimum!

Good luck with wherever you decide to go with! Make sure you do your homework and feel comfortable with the people/venue you choose.

Sandia is one of the more expensive places BUT it has the most beautiful venue!

Have you thought about your rehearsal dinner yet?

Oniell's in nob hill has a private event room that is great for rehearsal dinners!

Yeah it is expensive, but we wanted the view. We're having a small wedding so we're in one of the rooms that looks out on the mountains. If it was just another ballroom, we would've done it somewhere else. A good view of the Sandias at the reception site is something we wanted and most places with a good view are pretty pricey. For what we get with the view, the price is actually pretty good. We're doing the ceremony at UNM because we like the Alumni Chapel and Sandia was about as much for the ceremony as the reception. For the ceremony it's $1600 and doesn't include anything for the reception and I think that's crazy.
