Venues under $3000

Hi all!
My wedding is Sept 2011 and I'm still looking for a venue for the wedding & reception. I've found a location that I really like and so do my sisters and mom, but its a little over $3K! We're not getting married in a church so the commute for the guests will be really simple. But I'm having a hard time finding something big enough for 200-250 people. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Also, has anyone used Blue Plate Catering for their venue? How do their proposals work?

Are you looking for places that has catering included also? My wedding (hopefully) will have 250 or so people. We went with a venue that could handle both and got a break on doing both individually.

Not particularly looking for a venue that does catering, trying to avoid the hall or conference type setting if I can. Your ideas are certainly appreciated Ladies!

I was almost sold on Pazzos until I looked at their PP (price per plate). The space is wonderful and certainly reasonably priced for that location, but the catering prices are a bit inflated, in my opinion. $100 to cut the cake? I think I will still call to inquire. Hopefully they are proposal friendly.
Chicago proper- do you mean HAS to be in Chicago? Yes. Most of the family cant travel that far outside of the city. It kinda makes things tougher cause I dont want a church cermony and cant really do it outdoors cause the weather is unpredictable.
Vegas is not an option for me. But if you're interested for yourself, google all inclusive vegas wedding pkgs.
