Grandma & Groom's Mom Escorted to their seats?

Who does this?  So basically, we are down a bridesmaid and so I was going ot have the extra groomsmen and my soon to be husband escort his grandma and mom to their seats (we do not have ushers).  Is this acceptable?  Where do they come from (do they come from the same place we do, or do they come from the side?  My mom and I got into a tiff about what we're supposed to do in this situation...

    it is fine.  16 yrs ago when I got married (I'm a remarried MOB) my DH escorted my sister (standing in for our late mom) and his mom to their seats.  It was very touching and appreciated by my MIL.  I have been to more weddings where the groom escorts his mom than I have to weddings where MOG was escorted by someone else.

    ETA - DH entered from the back of the church with each of them and then exited back down the aisle to go around the sanctuary and enter from the groom's room with the Pastor and GM's.

    If your fi wants to escort his mom and grandmother to their seats, that's what he should do. The moms and grandma should enter with their escorts from the same place as the bridesmaid and other groomsman.

    Is your mom concerned about the groom seeing you before the procession? If that's the case, the groom could enter from the side and walk up the aisle to meet his mom and grandmother. Your mom will be seated last by the gm. That will cue the musician to start the processional music.

    Thanks for posting this, we're still trying to figure it out ourselves. Mainly because we don't know who we are using for ushers yet, groomsmen or nephews (who range in age from 12-25)
