Snarky Brides

It's Thursday!

Good Morning!

We're leaving for Hawaii today!  First we have to drive 4 hours (normally, with the weather it will probably take closer to 6) and pick up FI, my brother, and his girlfriend, then drive two more hours to the airport we're flying out of.  I ended up working 40 hours in 3 days, and then found out that instead of taking my dog to my aunt's house, a different aunt will be staying at our house with her daughter.  I've pulled an all-nighter trying to pack and get everything company clean instead of "whatever, I'll deal with this when I get back."

How is everyone else's Thursday shaping up?

Re: It's Thursday!

  • We had storms all night, so no one slept well. They don't bother me, this one was just LOUD. H's brother is flying into Dallas today, so I'm sure we will be hanging out with him and his crazy girlfriend tonight.
  • Crazy in a "Girl, you so cray cray! Hahahahaha!" sort of way, or crazy in a "let's just whisper softly and hide the knives" sort of way?

  • Went out for wings with friends last night and packaged up my Christmas gift fudge. Still have to finish the ornaments with DD (that'll be this evening, since she wants to give one to her teacher) and I'm still looking for a bed for DS.

FI's aunt is stopping by on her way home from up the coast tomorrow too, so that means I'll be cleaning house tonight as well as catching up on some missed workouts.

But, today is the last full teaching day, and tomorrow's half day is a concert!!!

Hawaii??? Soooooo jealous! I've always wanted to go there - have an awesome time!

  • Oooh, Jenny, Fudge!  And yay, almost break!

It took me awhile to be okay that we wouldn't be having the exact same Christmas that we have since I was born, but now I'm excited!  My brother and I are the only ones in the group that haven't been to Hawaii yet, so I'm looking forward to going with people that know what to hit and what to skip.
  • Morning,

I spent the night cleaning the house I got the news late last night that FFIL and his girlfriend will be coming to stay with us, which might be a problem with my moms surgery coming up the day after christmas. because then I will have both of my young brothers at the house and I have to watch their pets.
I am running out of room to put everyone.

oh well, I will be finishing laundry tonight and making room for everyone and get things squared away.
and hopefully FI comes home tomorrow.

  • Last night was a quite night. We ate leftovers for dinner.

I think we forgot to lay out dinner, bleh.

Tonight I have to finish making my Christmas Tree Cheeseball, and Spinach artichoke dip for a work party tomorrow.

I got all the stuff I needed for baking yesterday, and they didnt' ahve fresh squash, so I got frozen, I'm hoping it still turns out okay.

It felt like it should be friday- being sick wears you out.

  • Morning, all!  Man, I wish it was Friday.  We didn't get much sleep last night.  We're trying to break Sebastian from sleeping in our room, but he will come and sit outside the door and whine and lean against the door which makes it knock the frame.  The only way we've found to keep him from doing this is to crate him at night but then he whines.... ugh I don't know what to do.  And on top of that, I have seen fleas on him lately.  Nothing we put on him works to kill them or repel them, so it looks like we'll be getting Comfortis (which is so effing expensive) and praying that it works.

Today will probably be a long and boring day, but at least it's on step closer to the weekend!  I think H and I are going to go see The Hobbit on Saturday so I'm really excited about that!

We use Trefexis, it's cheaper, and workes AMAZINGLY! and we had HUGE flea problems last year, just a food for thought. :)

  • Cwag - I looove storms like that!

Shay - I am so jealous I want to go see the hobbit really bad. FI said when he gets home we will go see it but I don't think we will have time.

  • dtb - Crazy as in 'Please stop squatting and thrusting over your boyfriend as he lays on the ground of the dance floor as a dance move at our wedding' crazy. I don't know her super well, but I truly think she has some sort of drinking problem.

We also use Trifexis. They usually have rebate forms, too. And MF had a slight flea problem last year when we were using Triheart, and they haven't been back.
  • I've never heard of Trifexis.  Is it a pill too?  I'm off to do some googling.  It's so frustrating.  We have NEVER had a flea problem so I have no idea why it is so bad right now.  H is trying to get an appointment with the vet for Saturday so we can get his thoughts on it too, and because we'll probably need an Rx for whatever we go with.

Apple, I'm so excited!  I think we're going to see it in 3D, too.  Normally I don't care about that but I think this one looks like it could be worth it to see in 3D.

  • Shay - Yes, it's a chewable pill. MF hates it though, so I use a knife to cut it in half and shove it down his throat like I would a pill.
  • When I read that I almost spit my drink out! that is the funniest thing ever.
You mean everyone doesn't dance like that?

That would be a good one to see.
The only other thing I saw in 3D was the last harry potter. and it was only because at the midnight showing you got harry potter shaped 3D glasses.
but other than that I could have cared less.

I just started reading it  maybe 3 weeks ago and wanted to finish it before it came out so I did and now no one wants to go see it with me lol

  • Edie, nope.  And our other two don't have them!  It's so weird.  It's almost like he's developed some kind of skin condition that attracts them or something (he does have some skin issues which is another reason we're taking him to the vet).

Also, it looks like Trifexis would be a better choice because it also prevents heartworms and internal parasites and still has the same flea drug in it as comfortis.  Definitely would be cheaper since we wouldn't need to buy heartworm stuff.  Thanks for the rec guys, I'm so glad I mentioned it!

  • Shay- It's because we've had such a mild winter- it hasn't gotten cold so the fleas are still around- it happened last year to us about this time.

Exactly! lol That was the only movie I went to the midnight premiere as well.

I may have made shirts that say "I solemnly swear I'm up to no good" and on the back said "mischief managed." and wore my time turner haha

  • Yay for everybody's vacations. I am jealous of Hawaii but Florida is not a bad consolation prize. We are leaving this afternoon to visit FILs. Since they only have a 2br house and FSIL and her husband and son are staying with them we will stay with my sister and her H who live about 45 min away. It should be fun. I was bored to tears during Lord of the Rings so I refuse to go see the Hobbit.

  • applejam - I may have flown out to Los Angeles to watch the midnight showing at Universal Studios and then completely lost it during the credits upon which H purchased me an authentic Hermione wand to make me feel better.

I hate 3d movies, and H works in the film industry and says most people hate them. He says they're so gimmicky and take away from what a movie was created to be.
  • So this has nothing to do with anything, but some what amusing. One of my moms friends has been trying to add me on facebook- I CAN'T STAND HER! So I declined the request, she's tried to add me as a friend OVER 10 times at this point. At what point do you just give up and accept the fact I don't wnat to be friends with you? I mean geez!

  • Wild weather heading our way - high winds, rain turning to snow, and dropping temps.  And as per usual, all to start at the rush hour commute home.  H has a side biz snow plowing so he's pretty amped - because no snow, no dough.  Last winter was horrible here, well in terms of plowing since it was so mild.

    Have fun in Hawaii dtb!
  • Edie- someone told me that, the mobile site doesn't do that, so I'm going to have to reject it from a computer next time, it just baffles me, the only reason she's adding me is because she's nosy, it's like LEAVE ME ALONE!

When I worked for a publicly traded company, they didn't give anyone 'Religious Holidays' off, but we got an insane amount of 'Floating Holidays'. Because we can't be offending people.

But I'm at a smaller firm now, and I'm just taking all next week off to head up to Arkansas with H's family.
  • Google could tell me that one edie, what is DED?
    image
  • oh okay- got it.

What are you making for dinner edie?

[QUOTE]I think I want to make Mediterranean salad again.  It's spinach, northern beans, olives, and red pepper.  You're supposed to put orange slices in it but I don't like fruit in my salad.  I top it with red wine vinegar dressing.  Although I think I might do it without the spinach.

That sounds good! We will no doubt be going to happy hour with the happy couple coming in town.
I actually like them both, but when the girl who vomits at her company Christmas party (ie swag) thinks you party too hard... eeesh.
  • jcb - For some reason, I don't mind at all doing the 'pill shove'. MF is amazing at just sitting and taking it, and I had to do it to our dogs growing up a lot. And I have to give MF Benadryl occasionally for his allergies.
Once I tried putting it in a weenie and MF ATE the weenie and spit the pill back out. It was so impressive.
