Kosher Caterer Recc CT/RI or NYC who will travel

FI and I are getting married somewhere along the LI Sound- either coastal CT or Southern RI

Has anyone worked with a caterer who is not that expensive (less $75 ideal) but who has a modern edge?  Most of our guests do not keep kosher and our own tastes tend to lean towards the more modern side (no kugel, kasha, gifilte fish).

Thanks!

I used Main Event for my wedding (and engagement party, and aufruf and my MIL has used them for probably over 10 other events and always liked them).

I believe that you may be able to get them for less than $75 a head depending on what you want, though I'm not sure of their exact pricing.

I think they can do it all, from traditional Jewish fair to more modern stuff.  Their website isn't that great but you can find their contact info here and I'm sure they can give you sample menus:

Slbriz also used them and she was pleased as far as I remember :)

ps on the website it says they do go to Connecticut - not sure about RI.

I definitely loved ME - we are still getting raves on how delishous the food was.  And no worries, you won't be getting food that you'd get at your shul's Shabbat morning kiddush (gifilte fish, e.g.).  The price will depend on what you ultimately want, in terms of food (meat or dairy, etc.), and the numbers.  But because you are in RI, that might make it tough.  Also, you have to consider the taxes and service fees - that makes it very difficult to keep around $75 pp.

But I'd think there should be other kosher companies within the area; try a Google search or if there are local synagogues, find out where they get their food catered.  Then ask for some proposals and set up a tasting (even if you have to pay, better safe than sorry), or ask to be invited to an event so you can see and sample the food.  GL.

I highly recommend Margery Gussak Catering:

They are in Manchester, CT and travel to other states.

Their pricing depends on your menu, but I use them for events all the time at the shul I work at.

I'm using Prestige, and they are fantastic! They're NYC based but traveling to Philly for our wedding, so they may travel to your location as well.
