But some of my VHS tapes are so 1980s, they need to stay that way.  We should just move on.

Growing up, we used to watch "The Hobbit", that animated version, on my Grandmother's BetaMax.  Oh yeah . . .

    Thanks :) I'm a dork and I love it.
I used to have a pretty good system, but it has been FOREVER since I've played. I used to win all the time though. Someone had to be really lucky to beat me. Now I really want to play!!

In all my Clue excitement, I forgot to say good morning! I'm waiting for my big brother to wake up.  He flew in from Oregon yesterday and was awake for 38 hours straight, so he will probably not be up for a couple more hours.  I hadn't seen him since my wedding in August 2010 so I'm super excited that he's here!!

We never had a Beta, but I do remember that we got our first VCR probably around 1987.  It was my dad's Christmas gift.  Our first tape was Mary Poppins.

I'm not much a T&P person, nor do I want to take over the morning thread, but H's little brother is having knee surgery today. He's a college football player, so this surgery is VERY important for the rest of his football career. If anyone has thoughts to offer, cross your fingers everything goes well! Also, do you bring a 19 year old boy a card when he's in the hospital? Probably not flowers. Maybe just sneak him yummy food?

I was always scared of the animated Hobbit.  It could partially be because we always watched in my grandmother's basement and would turn out the lights.

I think the goblins were the scariest.  Or maybe it was Gollum.  He was so creepy in that.

My parents still have their Betamax, two VCRs and a buttload of tapes.

I liked Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men, but that might be because I did the play in HS and became a wee bit obsessed. I may have forced myself to overlook TC's weirdness.

I did like him in Tropic Thunder. That's the only thing of his I've liked in the past 15 years.

<div>I might have seen it a few times---looks amazing.  I "read" the book in 8th grade.  It was pretty good but FFS was it long for an 8th grader who was then called a Hobbit for the rest of the semester.</div>

Holy fast movers, ladies.  Happy Friday, I have been at work since prior to 6 am and am just sitting down at my desk, Mtgs, Mtgs, Mtgs,  Ugh, now to get some work done or the thread read, decisions, decisions.

I am not looking forward to this weekend. H bought new flooring for the bedroom and kept saying, "I want to replace the flooring. I want to rip out the carpet and put down the laminate."

Somehow, this turned into, "We are going to rip out the carpet and repace the laminate." I want the carpet gone, but I have no desire to actually help. Thus, I feel like an asshole.

He was in Wild Hearts Can't be Broken!?!  What an awesome movie.  Now that you mention it, I think I remember him.

ETA: He was Al!!  Swoon!!  I want to watch that movie again, too.

I haven't seen that movie in ages.

I love Wild Hearts Can't be Broken. And Jake Ryan. Too bad he is busy making Shaker furniture and not movies now.

And Sonora is now on "Burn Notice"!!!  That's one of the movies that I have on VHS and need to either get another VCR (not buy, but there has to be one lurking in my parents' house) or get on DVD.

Wild Hearts Can't be Broken is one of my favorite movies.  Also, Benny & Joon.  I made H buy me that recently.

I think we can rent "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" through Amazon video for like $2.  I should look into that.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if we watched some more football tonight.

I want some Shaker furniture. I also want a hot guy to come build it for me, shirtless.
