Listing ex-husband on my first passport?

Filling out an application for my first passport in preparation for our honeymoon and I stumble upon the dreaded question, "Have you ever been married?"  I hate clicking yes and giving info concerning my ex.  I don't wanna violate any passport rules but I also don't want to give the info if it's not relevant.  Thoughts?

It won't actually end up ON your passport.  It's just to establish your identity and your suitability for travel (links to crime, etc, like PP mentioned).

If you lie about it, then you are falsifying an official document, which is a crime in and of itself.  So don't.

    It's not a big deal, I promise.

    It's required, I'm afraid.

SO couldn't remember the date of his divorce.  I had to go through the court system here to track it down, it was so long ago.

My FI had to actually contact his ex because he couldn't remember her birthday, which you have to put in the info. They hadn't spoken in 5 years.
