Need Palette Help!

My fiance and I are looking to get married in La Jolla, California. The ceremony will be on the beach so I'm keeping that simple.. but I need ideas for a color palette for our reception. We kind of want to do an homage to 1960s California glamour without being hokey. Maybe incorporating actual oranges in centerpieces, teal or aqua accents, but I need actual colors that will be clean... I don't want to do just aqua and orange. Thanks! I'm color stupid...

  • Have you tried out http://www.theperfectpalette.com/ ? Lots of great inspiration there! Good luck :)
  • Go to a home improvement store and check out the paint cardboards. Hold up ones you like that fit in your vision........you can pick 2-3 colors that exhibit the thoughts you have about the time frame you are contemplating.

What about teal and tangerine?  Teal is much deeper than aqua and tangerine isn't quite as bright as orange?  I was married on the beach and didn't like the "fluffy" look of aqua against orange, so I altered it a bit with teal & tangerine, with white and khaki accents around.  I have some pics if you are interested?  It was a perfect summer-beach combo in my opinion :) Also, blue is opposite orange on the color wheel, so make sure your colors are somewhat opposite of one another so they pop more to they eye.

Send me a PM if you want to see pics, not on here a lot during the day.

  • Love teal and orange.  It's festive and happy, but not too crazy!
  • Mix in a third color--Aqua, orange and cream.  Aqua, orange and coral.  Aqua, orange and sand.
  • <div>Oh I'm from San Diego too!  What a gorgeous venue it will be La Jolla is gorgeous.  I like aqua and orange together!  I think white or ivory or bright pink, gold or green would go really nicely with it here are ideas for 1960's type wedding</div><div><img src="http://img0.etsystatic.com/000/0/6358751/il_570xN.297534684.jpg" alt="Orange and Aqua Chinese Paper Lanterns Wedding Invitation Set - Sample" /> </div><div>
