Tell me how you did your table numbers

(Fair warning, I'm about 5 months out so you can count on an influx of WR posts from me from this point forward.)

I figured out what I'm going to do for our table numbers yesterday, but now I'm trying to decide how I want to incorporate them onto the tables.  I'm looking at table number holders online, but most of them are....NMS or look like they'll be detracting from my CPs.  My table numbers aren't really going to "match" my CPs.  How did you put your table numbers on your table without detracting from your CPs or making them look dumb?  I want them to be easy to see, so there's minimal confusion, but I don't want it to be like "OMG HEY LOOK AT ME I'M A TABLE NUMBERRRRRRR!"

Also, feel free to tell me I'm way overthinking this, but then get used to it, because I overthink everything.  I KNOW I'm overthinking.  That's why I'm asking you people for help.

Re: Tell me how you did your table numbers

  • We were mean. We made people find their own tables and seats. It was a free-for-all.

I need to see the centerpieces first because even though you said they won't match, I like having something to go by.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Tell me how you did your table numbers : Oh, believe me, I would do that if I could.  But we have to have at least assigned tables because we're doing a plated dinner and the venue says so.  This is the vase for the CP:  My mom is doing them, so I'm not positive what else she is doing.  But then for the table numbers/names, we're doing our favorite football players from our respective teams--Vikings players for his guests, and Packers for my guests.  It's very much "us" and I'm happy with the idea, but I'm having a hard time getting over the non-matchy-ness of it.

Funky vases! What are the colors going to be? If it'll go, maybe have them printed on green and purple (those are the football colors right?) cards in just a plain silver/white/black frame? Or maybe find some of those curly card holders? I dunno, I suck at stuff.
  • Tiny jerseys?
  • I love those vases!

Also, I'm looking forward to an influx of wedding related posts.  Moar, plz.

  • I like those vases!

I also like Any's PIP suggestion - or can they not be just folded to sit up?  I guess I don't know exactly what yours look like.

We didn't do table numbers either.  :)

Well, see, that's the trouble.  The wedding colors are navy, lighter green, and pink.  and I want the numbers to look like this:
    <a href="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/2/5/c2df9c9f-128a-47c5-a5b8-5edfcf4f5838.large.jpg" title="Click to view a larger photo" onclick="return gSiteLife.LoadForumPage('ForumImage', 'plckPhotoId', 'c2df9c9f-128a-47c5-a5b8-5edfcf4f5838', 'plckRedirectUrl', gSiteLife.EscapeValue(window.location.href));" class="PhotoLink"> <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/2/5/c2df9c9f-128a-47c5-a5b8-5edfcf4f5838.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>
    Except better, obviously.

So I kind of feel like I'll just have to come to terms with them not matching.  Maybe if I put the table numbers more on the edge of the tables to start with, then I won't feel like they're encroaching on the CPs, and by the time people get there and sit and move them I won't care anymore, because, you know, I'll be all married and stuff.

Oh my god, I'm neurotic.  Sorry you guys have to put up with it.  Thanks for listening and helping even though I'm crazy.  :)

  • What about box frames? That way you still have that kind of clear holder like the vase but can still incorporate the numbers and player names.

Table numbers were one of those things I gave up caring about in the last two months, so I'm not much help. Our venue provided them for us. Just simple photo clips like that with a white card that had black numbers. lame-o.

I LOVE your vases for the CPs though, J! How creative.

Could you just adhere the table number directly to the vase somehow? Either paint them on or get a fun label and put it right onto them?

orrr have them stick out of the top opening instead of using a flower there.
  • I did set them right at either end of the tables.  They really are barely noticeable unless you WANT them to be noticeable.  A small, simple silver or gold frame can hold the image you posted and do the job without interfering with your centerpieces.
  • Is your wedding day or night, J&K?

I reall love these for night time but I don't know if they'd work for you or not.

  • Oh!  I like the tiny jerseys in box frames idea, too!

jcbsjr -- I switched to Firefox.  I was getting that error in IE, too.

[QUOTE]These are placecard holders, so they may be a little small, but I think they're kind of adorable: <a href="http://www.beau-coup.com/sports-fan-place-card-holder.htm" rel="nofollow">http://www.beau-coup.com/sports-fan-place-card-holder.htm</a> Maybe too birthday party-ish?  I could see them working anyway, but I think it all depends on your target funky-to-formal ratio.

That would be cool if she had the matching colors and then could just cut out the name and number like on the jersey!

Clearly you need to change your colors to purple and green J&K.
  • Tiny jerseys!  That's cute too.  I was just going to crop to a rectangle, but I love the tiny jerseys idea.

I was getting an error for a short time too, but it's gone now.

i think the etsy seller can customize the number by using a stencil, though I'm not positive. She may be able to do the varsity letter look.

Those are really pretty and I love them.  It won't be dark enough (we're looking at a 3 or 4ish ceremony with everything immediately after) for me to use them, but I do really like them.

  • You can get these small clear, plastic stands that will hold up your numbers (mount them on cardstock so the paper is stiff).  They also make then in gold and silver.  Check your local craft store.

I do think you may be over thinking this a bit, though.  They're just table numbers.

And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. I like it. It's scary in a good way now.
  • Unless you're getting married in vegas this probably would not work for you, but we're doing playing cards as the table numbers and printing a playing card for each guest with their name (and S/O) on it so they can match it up to the table displaying the same card number/suit.

We found these card holders we're going to use:

Also, random posts in this thread keep disappearing when I open it agian.  Stupid knot glitches.
