reception

ok we are inviting more people to the wedding than the reception, so we are putting seperate reception cards in our invitations, but I just dont know how to word them.  any suggestions?

    You should not invite people to the ceremony who are not also invited to the reception.

    You can't invite people to the wedding and not the reception, it's extremely rude.

    Putting seperate reception cards is very common if the reception is in a different location and/or there's a gap. Mine was something like

    "Please join us after the ceremony to continue the celebration. 

    Cocktails to begin at 5 o'clock. 

    Reception Location Address, etc. "

    That card should be placed in EVERY invitation, because like PPs said it's hella rude if you don't.

    My suggestion is the same as PPs. Invite everyone to the reception. If you cannot afford to provide the same reception for everyone, then host the reception you can afford. Cake and punch for all is better than a fancy dinner for some.

    The "wedding" is one event, consisting of two parts: ceremony and reception. In other words, the reception is part of the wedding.

    Also, it is rude to invite people to one half of the event and not the other (having a tiered wedding). Don't do it.

    This is horribly and unforgivably rude.  <strong>Everyone </strong>invited to the ceremony must be invited to the reception, no exceptions.
