I have two aunts who have offered to throw me a bridal shower. (In my circle/family, it's acceptable etiquette-wise for aunts to throw a shower, so please just go with it.) They spoke about it as though it would be a women-only event, but maybe that's just be because that's the traditional/default way to do a shower.
I am really not interested in a women's-only shower. I think that in this day and age, and since I'm not exactly Ms. Domestic Debby, the gifts are for us as the couple, so it seems approrpiate for us to open them together and thank people together. Plus, I just really enjoy the company of ALL of our friends and family members, not just the ones with boobs.
I checked in with my FI and he would be fine with showing up to a couple's shower. Would it be acceptable for me to see if my aunts would be okay with a couple's shower? It probably isn't what they had in mind, but it's what we would prefer.
