Colors...help!!!!!

I have been able to be fairly decisive on everything so far but I am paralyzed when it comes to choosing colors!!!! One of them definitely has to be orange (my FI loves the color orange almost as much as he loves the yankees...don't ask, I don't know either lol). That's fine with me, but I can't pick a good complement color!

Our wedding is in July and I love bright, not muted or pastel colors. I was thinking maybe pink, but are bright pink and bright orange too much? Maybe purple? I don't like orange and yellow so much...I also want to be fun, not stuffy, but not childish either.

Should I look at the flowers available, then pick the colors? Or pick the bridesmaid dresses I like the best and see what colors they come in? And what color would you put with orange in July?

If you like pink and orange, go for it. Just be sure that you pick a neutral color to go with it, to help ground the colors. The extra neutral color makes it look a lot less childish. Here are a few color combo picks:

    Pink+Orange+Brown: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ywpxBC4_hHg/TeW22TkHQuI/AAAAAAAADxs/3zJ61RqDe48/s1600/orange_fuschia_pink_chocolate_brown_indian_wedding.jpg

    Pink+Orange+White: http://i.imgur.com/3M6z7.jpg

    Just Pink+Orange (not suggested): http://i.imgur.com/bi5dF.jpg

If you want a more varied selection of colors, I suggest looking at http://www.theperfectpalette.com/ for what they'd generally look like together. It's a design blog based on color choices, and it's pretty fun to tool around in.
  • I've got a Yankee fan husband too and I am in Boston.  It can be dangerous to be a Yankee fan around here.  With a Yankee-fan, it is a lifestyle.  Don't expect to have any wedding discussion until after the World Series.

Bright Orange, Bright Pink, White and Navy would be very striking and very summery.  I think you have a great idea.   Put the bridal party in Navy sun dresses carrying a bouquet of orange, pink and white flowers.  There are gorgeous Asiatic lilies in bright pink and orange that could be mixed with dahlias, callas and gerberas.

Orange and purple is very pretty together but seems more autumnal to me.  I went to a wedding last week where the bridal party wore an aubergine purple and carried a bouquet of deep purple and bright orange flowers.  The groom and his men worn tan suits while the bride wore ivory.  It is fall in our area for certain.

Not if the Orioles have anything to say about it!!!  Go O's!  :)

And for the colors, I think PP have given some great suggestions

  • yes PInk and Orange or orange and purple are very pretty.

    or all of them. :)

  • Orange and pink flowers look great together. Those are the colors i used in my bridesmaids' bouquets. I knew that I didn't want subdued colors either for my July wedding. We used Free Spirit and Ambiance Roses as the main flowers and it looked beautiful. They really popped against the peacock blue bridesmaid dresses.

  • For a bright summer look with orange, I like the Tangerine & Wasabi or Burnt Orange and Sky Blue in this list of color combonations
