Bay Area - Outdoor Wedding and Reception

First off - I posted this originally in just the Outdoor Wedding section. Then I realized maybe I should have done this locally. =)

I am having such a hard time finding a great outdoor venue in the Bay Area. We are willing to travel up into the wine country, Santa Clara area, Brentwood/Livermore, and maybe even Sacramento. My fiance and I are looking at having around 200-250 guests and need a venue that is reasonably priced. I would really like to find a venue that I can have a little more freedom when it comes to decorating than if I was to do a country club. Also, since we are looking at getting married in June (not this year) I would like to be able to do a tented area, to help with the heat.
Please help... Any ideas would be really appreciated.

  • Here is a venue at brentwood area: http://www.clublosmeganos.com/clm/page.asp?p=1383

The price per person ranges from $26 - $44 per person for dinner without appetizers and cake and beverage. So, you are looking around $50/person (minimum) if you choose the cheapest package. Some of their party area can accomodate up to 400 guests. Fyi, June will be super hot in Brentwood area and night time will be cooler.

I am not really sure in term of your budget or your idea of decorating. Usually, a lot of places will let you decorate it however you want. They only provide the minimal items like tables, chairs, plates, utensils, etc. All of your decorations items (centerpieces, escort table, gift table, etc) should be provided by you.

If you want to share what type of decorations you have in mind, I can probably see if I can suggest more places or different ideas :)
  • Check out Cow Track Ranch in Nicasio. I think it's around $3700 for the site rental, which includes an overnight stay in the bunkhouse on the ranch (sleeps 5). We considered it for our wedding, and it wasn't quite what we were looking for, but if you want something outdoors and rustic that can be either casual or more formal, definitely check it out. The owners are really friendly and super flexible about decorations, vendors, etc.
  • First thought that came to my mind was Wente in Livermore. I can't speak for their pricing though -- I have no idea. There's also Chateau St Jean in Sonoma, but I think they're a bit pricey.

  • Thank you both for the new ideas. I will definitely check them out.
I have been through so many books and websites and just was not seeing what I was looking for. I knew that putting this question out I would get a better response. Smile

Check out Saratoga Springs in Saratoga: http://saratogasprings.com/CA/

This is our venue for our wedding on August 2013. Great prices in comparison to other Bay Area venues. So far they have been very flexible and accommodating about everything decorations and all! Good luck!

We got married at Kenwood Farms and Gardens in Sonoma County. I would recommend it to anyone.
