Curious about a Dj

So for our wedding we have chosed to go with adagio djay.
Im wondering about their gratuity policy...they figured in a $300 gratuity when most things I have been reading have said $50-150!
I also think its a little weird they are figuring in the gratuity before we see how the service it. What it the dj turns out to be terrible? I dont want them to have $300 no questions asked! I want them to try hard to get that gratuity and give us a great night!

Just wondering what others think about this whole thing!

  • We're using FI's cousin's DJ company for our wedding so I didn't look into many other companies, but yeah that does sound odd. I've only seen mandated gratuity when it comes to catering.

  • We went with Adagio for our wedding a couple of weeks ago. Either I totally did not notice that part or it's new into the contract?
    Not sure.

If you're questioning service -- we had the most amazing time ever. Adagio is one of my WP's preferred vendors and I seriously heard nothing but rave reviews from other past brides, online reviews -- you name it.
Have you met with Jay yet?
I liked him for sure. Not pushy at all.
Our DJ ended up being Tommy and we had the most rocking night ever! Every DJ they employ has extensive experience and knows what they're doing. They carefully match you to a DJ depending on what you input on your online planner.

    You won't be dissapointed!

You're right! it is really high, and it is odd that they require that. Why wouldn't they give you the option to choose an appropriate amount?
My questions is: why don't they just put that $300 into the regular price tag and then pay their DJ's better?
I am finding it frustrating that so many weding vendors have hidden fees and put financial stuff into the fine print
  • When we were planning we met with adagio, both FI and I felt like the guy was kind of full of himself and liked to hear his own voice. Plus they were more expensive than most of the other companies.
  • Hmm, that seems like a LOT just for gratuity. We went with a friend that gave us a discount, but even if we gave him a 20% tip at his regular rate, that would have been less than $150. I personally wouldn't pay that much for a DJ but that's your choice!

  • are you sure that isn't the downpayment? We are going with Adagio and our down payment was $300 never heard anything about a $300 gratuity. I would call Jay and ask him about that because that doesn't seem right (not saying you are wrong, just seems crazy that someone would throw that on there) I have some places that add the 20% gratuity, so i guess it depends on how much you are doing with them maybe that is the case where they add a percentage of gratuity.
I have heard nothing but amazing things from this company and past brides.
