Informal Venue needed

Hi all! I am newly engaged and just starting the IDEA of planning... basically I want to have a private ceremony and then a big LAID BACK, INFORMAL "barbeque" type of reception/party for our big, crazy familiy (at least 250).

I am thinking of researching state parks to see if I could rent a pavillion for a day. I am in Bethlehem and would like to stay within an hour away. But I wanted to see if anyone had any good ideas? I looked on the boards but didn't see anything. My style is pretty rustic and we like to party, so a DJ and alcohol will definitely be involved! My fiance suggested renting a big gazebo in a field, but the threat of bad weather really scares me.

No rush, thinking Fall of 2014. All idea welcome! Thanks!

You may want to check out the Allentown or Behtlehem Brew Works.  My partner and I want the same style wedding (backyard bbq, rustic, etc).  We met with Wendie at the Allentown Brew Works and they have awesome spaces and great flexibility to meet what you're looking for.

We will be having a burger bar and fry station, along with apps, dessert and drinks.  Pinterest has some great rustic decor ideas.  I originally only wanted an outdoor wedding/reception, but the way the weather is I don't want to risk it.  The Allentown Brew Works also offers and outdoor space for your ceremony/cocktail hour  They are super versatile!

    Hope this helps!  Good luck!  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

My fiance and I also decided on the Allentown BrewWorks. Lots of options for space and menus. Good luck!

Keep in mind that most state parks don't allow alcohol... Good luck! :
