We'll find out probably in the next hour. A friend contacted us yesterday. She is interning w/the local urban food alliance. They had an Americorp position that their candidate dropped out of. If they didn't fill it, they would lose the grant. So, DH went to the interview yesterday. It's the community outreach position for the public school system, helping the teachers and students run their gardens, with some computer stuff. DH said the interview went very well. He's qualified for everything except the actual organizational experience (not for profit). When asked that question, he mentioned that while he had no formal, he was heavily involved with a local organization that was at the tipping point of trying to grow into a more formalized not for profit. The interviewer asked him if he would mind sharing the organization. DH said he hesitated for a second and then just shrugged and said [Local] Freethinkers. He said interviewer paused for a second and then said, "Oh", rolled up his sleeve and showed DH his "Think" tatoo, grinning. Then he told DH he could wait for the call today or come with him to work on one of the schools this morning. So, DH was at the school at 7 am, working. Hopefully it pans out for him. He really wants it. The pay is eck really, but there's a $5500 tuition reimbursement that would be awesome, it's flexible w/the hours so he can keep going to school and he really wants it. Sorry for wall of text, the knot hates my work computer.
