Uniform as part of boudoir shots?

Hi ladies! My fiance is in the AF, I am not military. I am in the process of scheduling my boudoir pics to use as a wedding present for him. The photographer mentioned incorporating things he is interested in, and I immediately thought of the AF, which is obviously a huge part of both our lives. But, would it be disrespectful to pose in his uniform jacket with his name on it? If so, any other ideas of incorporating the military into my pictures?
Thanks!

Re: Uniform as part of boudoir shots?

  • I know there are a number of people who think it is cute.  Frankly, coming from a vet, I think it is extremely disrespectful.  You didn't earn it, you shouldn't wear it.  My brothers and sisters have died in those uniforms.  It's not a prop and it isn't lingerie.
Does he not have any other interests besides his job?  Does he have a ball cap he wears all the time?  Does he ride a motorcycle?  You could wear his leather jacket.  Does he have a game day jersey you could wear?
I did a B shoot a few years ago and wore the dress shirt he wore on our wedding day with a pair of black boy shorts and stilettos.  He said it was the hottest thing.

One other thing he said after seeing other people's pictures on the internet, he doesn't understand why people feel the need to pose in their husband's uniforms and such.  Like he said, most guys want to leave work at work.  They don't want to see it on their wives or associate sex with it.

  • Please don't do this. I agree with TX. Every time I've seen it done, it was just offensive.

I did B-pics for my H, and I bought a tank top that reminded him of work in a cute way without being disrespectful. I just bought a ton of lingerie from F21 (it was cute/sexy/inexpensive) and did 5 looks. It was so much fun, have a good time!

  • I agree with PP's. I always think these shots are incredibly disrespectful to the uniform.

What about just doing some aviation-themed shots? Or just as pp's have said - keep it simple and sexy.

  • I'm a retired Vet and a MOB.  Pretend I wrote what iluvmytxrgr wrote.  Please do not do this - it is incredibly disrespectful.
  •   You didn't earn it, you shouldn't wear it.

Exactly this! Same with wearing your FI/Husband's cover or using his sword for photos. It's not yours, don't pretend it's cute.
  • Please, don't do this. Like the others have said it is really not in good taste and there are plenty of other options for attire in a budoir shoot.

  • I know that this is a couple weeks old, but I've been told this is actually illegal. You're wearing someone else's uniform, and depending on the unit and how much gums flap, your husband could get in trouble not just for you in the uniform, but for the pictures. budoir photography is that fine line between art and porn and it totally sucks.

Wear something patriotic, but stay away from camo and such. One pp is right, he doesn't wanna come home to work, and details in pics will trigger pissiness :-/

I can't type outside of this quote box.  This is untrue.  If I wanted to take my husbands ABU's and wear them around town I could, but why would I want to? lol.  It IS true that you *should* get permission to wear your blue's to special events outside of events/monday's/work/volunteer work where you're instructed to do so.. anyways, the Air Force is a big part of my husband and my life but he hates all that "Dependa-hoe" shit so i would never wear his uni. plus it would look ridiculous.  If you want to include that part, take a pic of his boots next to your shoes or something, don't wear his actual uniform.. please.
  • Yep PickleJuice is correct. It is only illegal to wear a uniform with medals/patches/ensignia and to pretend that you are a military member. (It's a Federal law).

But either way, it's in poor taste and incredibly disrespectful to all military members who have earned the right to wear the uniform.
  • I agree with the other posters.  Please do not wear your husband's uniform in any kind of photos.  It is very disrespectful.  Keep in mind in this day and age of technology....you never know when a photo could be posted on the web without your knowledge.  It could potentially be very embarrasing to you and detrimental to your husband.  There are many ways you can incorporate this into your wedding.  For instance, my husband and I renewed our vows...he wore his dress blues and I carried his Airman's Bible and had his dog tags intwined in the flowers...very special and yet very subtle.
  • Ohhh kk I assumed she intended to keep those items on the blouse, which why I spoke as I did.

And maybe everyone is different, bc for Halloween several years ago, I wore XH navy dungaree shirt and happened to run into one of his higher ups. The man was polite to me, but XH heard about it the next day and not in a good way. That shirt had his name and chevrons on it. But of course the CO knew me, so no passing that off.
  • I agree with everyone.

You should really do some research. People on the internet rip women apart for this.

  • I agree.  My fiance and I put on that uniform every day so it is not a costume or a plaything.  I told my cousin no using strippers in a military theme because it is disrespectful.  No one said you can't buy camo colored lingerie though.  I also really like that red tank top further up!
  • super disrespectful. Women think its cute but the only person to wear the uniform is the military man/woman. You have not earned that honor...its even more disrespectful to pose dirty in it...no different than a flag
  • I agree with everyone else, I would pick wearing a jersey of his favorite sports team or something along those lines instead!
