  I completely agree.   I just got married. I had a beautiful beautiful day.  Etiquette was spot on because of knot.   I didn't post my questions because usually there was already a post about it.  Some of the things i have seen future brides post  I had to pick my jaw up for.  From requiring BM to  having manicure when it would effect there work, to a bride asking people to bring chairs and more.   So many things that went beyond PPD and dollar dances.    I was talking to my venue coordinator and the bride and groom had a dry wedding only cake and lemonade and tea which is all fine but had a bucket for donations.  Sometimes we all need to cold hard advice.

  That said, I would pause before any of you do something you will later regret. I cannot tell you how many people went out with a blaze of glory only to ask to be reinstated later. Abandoning a forum is not the way to fix it. 

  
  

  I do feel that this forum can lack some common decency sometimes. There is a mean way and a polite way to say anything, and some ladies have a tendency to skip the etiquette (which can be quite ironic on the etiquette subforum when someone is being called an idiot for lacking tact) and go straight for the jugular. This attitude scares away new members (I've seen it a million times on my 500,000+ member forum) and new members are the lifeline of a forum. Especially on a forum that is dedicated to such a short period of one's life. The Knot NEED these new members to replace ones who leave after they move on from thinking about weddings. 

  
  

  I support the mods cracking down on rude behavior. This place would be a lot more enjoyable if people were nicer to one another. And being nice doesn't mean lying or sugar coating, you can still tell someone something is a bad idea in a tactful way. If I were a mod here (which I am not) I would be doing it in a different way, through notifications on each forum and warnings before bans. But I do think you should take pause and hear the mods POV before burning a bridge you later want to rebuild.

  I am a member of a forum with 1,482,000 other members (and many more lurkers).  People are rude, blunt, and insensitive.  They are as "bad" as the members here, if not worse sometimes. 

  But people come back every day.  People participate in the site and forums every single day.  The mods don't ban people for being rude.  They don't delete posts that may have been insensitive.  Yes, there are people on there that I don't get along with.  You can ignore members who really irritate you - not ask for them to be banned.  And you especially don't censor people's posts because you think they aren't playing nice.

  But this forum I visit also has 35+ moderators and staff that monitor the boards all day, every day (in shifts, I assume).  And I think this is where the problem lies at The Knot.

  The Knot's forums seem to be SEVERELY understaffed.  Problems pile up, and instead of dealing with them appropriately, they just wipe it out completely.

  I'd love to see this place fixed up, but I doubt it will happen.  They seem to thrive on short-term members who come here when they need to, and they don't seem to care about their long-term members.  This has been made obvious over the last couple days.
