average florist cost....

Hello everyone,
I live in westchester County, NY.  I am not having my wedding for another year, but i am starting to interview vendors and weigh my options.  We are getting married at The Villa Barone in Mahopac in October of 2011.  Anyway, i recently went to speak with the florist at Westchester floral, he quoted us a price nearing $4000 for EVERYTHING.  I thought this was a good price, but many people gave their opinion to tell me that its a very expensive price.  Does anyone have any idea of average florist cost in the westchester county area for the whole wedding?? HELPPP!!! Wink

I think that is a lot, but it depends on what type of flowers you want and how many centerpieces that includes. We didn't get centerpieces and spent $1k on 2 altar arrangements, my bouquet, 4 bm bouquets, 7 bouts for the guys and fathers, and 2 corsages.
If you take the 3k difference left in your budget and you have 20 tables, that's $150 a centerpiece. A lot of people do spend that much - too me personally thats absolutely outrageous for flowers that no one will remember, but others obviously disagree or no one would spend that much.

I am having a 200 person wedding next July and the Florist I met with quoted me at 4,000.  I heard this is a good price, but I  just can't see myself spending 4,000 on something that you can't keep!  I'm going to keep looking around, and was actually going to Westchester Floral Design as well.  I met with Frank from House of Flowers in Mamaroneck.  He is great!!!  I probably will use him, but I'm still weighing my options :) Good Luck!

We're spending about 3500 and I think that is an excellent price for everything we wanted and are getting. We're using Carl at Bed of Roses in Yonkers. He's on Central Avenue not far from Nathans (except across the street).

in reply to kfsped23, talk to Danny at westchester floral, hes AMAZING!!!!!! He was very straight forward with us and let us know what we should get rid of because he thought it would be too much money. Hes setting up a sample centerpiece for us next week and im very excited to see it!  We are having between 260 - 290 people @ our wedding so considering the amount of people, im hoping this is a good price.  We are using calla lillies (sp?) and orchids and a few black magic roses.

It totally depends on what you are getting.

We had all roses for bouquets/ bouts and centerpieces and carnations for alter arrangements. We had 12 tables, cardbox table, guest book table and escort card table. (15 vases in all with a dozen flowers per vase). The girls bouquets were on the cake table.  Me, Joe, 3 BMs, 4GMs, parents and all our flowers came to under $1500.

However, we had a little over 100 guests. And used a florist for the church and personal flowers ($1200) and Stop and Shop florist and Michaels for the reception (total came to about $300).

So it all depends. Everyone's budget is different. And orchids can get pricey. GL!

We have 250 guests in November and are paying 2000 for everything.  We are using a florist in Rockland though.  A friend of mine used Westchester Floral and was very happy though.  My cousin used Arcadia - she spent around 5000.

i spent $3500 on a mixture of high and low arrangements for 20 tables, my bouquet, 1 moh, 6 bms, groom, 2 bm, 6 gm, 2 moms, 2 dad, 1 gpa, 3 gma, 1 sweetheart table arrangement, 1 special arrangement for our sorority/fraternity, and 2 church pieces.  I thought it was a fair price.

I went with Frank at House of Flowers, and he was great as others have mentioned.

I only spent $1,000, but we had a a much smaller shindig. I had only my bouquet 1, MH, 2 corsages 2 little bouquets for MOB/G, 8 centerpieces and one tall arrangement for the escort card table.  They were all beautiful, and if I had asked to spend less money, I am sure that Frank would have done something equally wonderful with a little more greenage :)

I would take the same estimate to the tee and bring around to others and just see the difference.  Just make sure to use the same styles and numbers of things each time.  You have some time and why spend that much, if you don't have to?

I would try Monica Chimes Floral in the White Plains area. They are really reasonable & amazingly creative!  You give them a price that you want to work within & they will help you out as much as possible!  My friend used them.  They are actually on here if you want to see the work they do. Good Luck!

The florist we are using in Rockland is Pearl River Florist.  They have been great to work with.
