Photographer Tipping Etiquette

I was researching tipping ettiquette and noticed that if the photographer owns her own business you are not required to tip her, but just get her a personal gift after the wedding. Thoughts on this?

    My friend is a wedding photographer and rarely ever gets tips ... and she definitely doesn't get gifts!! LOL

    Sometimes she gets notecards and very rarely a check but since she owns the business and rakes in all the profits ... I guess a tip is not necessary.

    I didn't tip my photographers...

    Correct.  Business owners of any profession should not get or expect tips.  Only employees should be tipped.  Such as Limo Driver,  servers etc.
