March 2014 Weddings

Favors... too soon? Feedback...

So my wedding is March 1, 2014 and I already know what favors I want. With it being a Mardi Gras wedding I want to go with some kind of Mardi Gras-type throw, so my FI and I decided that customized plastic cups would be great. So I found a place to make them and just need to place the order. Do you think it's too soon to order? I have the money now and would like to just go ahead and get it out of the way.

Also, what are your favors?

  • If you have the money in your budget, and especially since the favors are non-perishable items I don't see any problem with ordering them now. As long as you have the storage space, why not! My wedding is March 22 and I am trying to get anything done ahead of time that I can. We will be so busy once the holidays come, and ski trips throughout Jan & Feb.. it will be nice to have things done early if we can. I am doing small jars of jam for favors, so it might be a bit early for me to order them although they'll most likely last. :)

I agree with @kkilb5498, since they're non-perishable and if you have the money in the budget, go ahead.  It's always great to have them ahead of time b/c you can probably fill the cups with Mardi Gras beads or something for them to wear while they're dancing.  Or even Mardi Gras Masks...The ideas are endless!!!

Our favors are little lanterns w/the led candles for inside them. Our favors are doubling as place card holders.  Once our guests get to the table, they can flip the switch on the LED candles and there will be "extra" light on the table, besides the handful of tea lights that are apart of the center piece. All we have to do is go to Michaels to order them in bulk.  Getting a 20% discount on 3.99 (for the lanterns) isn't bad.  With that said, I will be ordering ours before the month ends.  It's getting so surreal.....

  • Never too early! Get anything and everything you can now out of the way so you dont have to worry about it and/or forget it later!

  • I just bought mine last week for my 3-8-14 wedding. They are the chalkboard coasters from the knot shop. They look great!
  • Early is never a bad thing, if you have the room to hold them!

We're doing a travel theme (FI swept me off to Germany for a surprise trip last Thanksgiving, since then we've also been to Israel and are planning a 3-week trip throughout Europe for the summer) and are making luggage tags that will serve as the escort cards and favors.  :)

That sounds super cool!!! Killing 2 birds with one stone.  I'm doing the escort card/favor combo as well.  Easier on the wallet to boot!
