Instead of buying each other a wedding gift, my husband and I paid a service to clean our house while we were on our honeymoon. We just returned yesterday and a sparkling-clean house was definitely one of the best wedding gifts! In the weeks leading up to the wedding, we had no time to clean and the idea of starting our life together in a messy home just wasn't our idea of wedded bliss. Even if you are in the position of having a regular cleaning service (which we definitely are not), I would still recommend an extra-deep cleaning while you are away (carpet shampoo anyone?). Trust me, you will thank yourselves!!
