Bridesmaid gift - Robes

I was really set on getting all the bridesmaids robes, but now I am seeing how everyone hates getting them. I actually really want one right now, so I don't know if that has been influencing my decision. Any ideas other than robes or jewelry to wear the day of, or are those gifts ok?

I wouldn't be comfortable receiving a robe as a bridesmaid gift-let alone be photographed in it while "getting ready." That's a gift that strokes your ego, but does nothing for me.
