9/27/14 Brides! Happy -1 Year Anniversary!! :)

One year from today we will be getting married. How far into the planning process have you gotten? We have reserved the venue and just met with a wedding planner last night. We have an idea of what all we want but haven't really gotten into it all yet. We do have our colors picked and I think next month I will start dress shopping! :)

Re: 9/27/14 Brides! Happy -1 Year Anniversary!! :)

  • Happy one year! All day I kept imagining where I will be a year from today. So exciting! We have our venue, photographer, food, and colors picked out. I'm going to try on dresses for the first time next week!
  • Yes, Happy 1 year!! I am so excited! Congrats to everyone! We have picked our venue(all inclusive so we will have food menus later); picked our colors(navy & yellow); started designing our save the dates(I work at a party rental company so I got to use one of our graphic designers and a steal of a price) got the florist (also another co-worker) Booked our photobooth; went dress shopping a couple weeks ago, nothing yet... have our bridesmaid/goomsmen caterer for our rehearsal dinner and rehearsal dinner hall booked... We have been engaged for 6 months but didn't start booking anything until a month ago.. I was very indecisive and then things started falling into place. :)

What colors did you ladies pick.
  • Wow yall are way ahead of me and here I was thinking I was ahead of the game. LOL. We are going dress shopping in a few weeks for me. I will do bridesmaids after I pick mine. Our colors are champagne black and white. Bridesmaids will be in champagne dresses with maybe a black accent of some sort. Groomsmen in black tux with champagne vest and tie. :)
  • ohh very nice! :)  My mom doesn't like my colors, and to be honest they weren't my first pick either so I may be taking a couple steps back on that.. and going with grey/blacks/whites for our save the dates and then pick the colors sooner rather than later. :) -- see told you i was indecisive!
  • HAPPY HAPPY!  The countdown has begun.  Do you realize this is all of our last October not married :).  We have most of the big vendors selected. Our colors are blacks with purple.  Perfect for fall.  I keep going back and forth between black and a dark charcoal... what do you ladies think? I think we will most likely go with black.  Our venue has a large variety of linens so I think we will do black linens.  I want the room to have that more formal look. We are having a lot of lighting too so going with purple uplighting to make the room look cool.  This weekend is my dress shopping! I have never been so excited for any other shopping trip!!! After that we will do bridesmaid dresses. We were engaged in August and the planning just began about 4 weeks ago... fun, overwhelming, exciting, stressful.... all at the same time! I LOVE IT! :)
  • We have most of the big things booked (DJ, photographer, venue, etc). Found out that my decorator is now fully booked for June-October 2014, so I'm very glad I booked her in May :)

Our colors are purple and silver.

I actually found my dress, at a great price. It's a few sizes smaller, but I have a year to shape up :)

I'm also debating on whether or not to get a photobooth - I've heard they're fun, but I don't know if they would be worth the extra money, that we could use for other things.

  • hi 9/27 brides.... so this weekend... i FOUND MY DRESS! it is so beautiful.. and like "they" say.. you know when you know.... i totally knew :) Such a fun shopping experience :)
  • 9/27/14 here too! (well, private ceremony on 9/26, reception on 9/27). Pretty much the only thing I've done so far is book the venue. It's my second wedding though so I'm definitely a lot more laid back than the first time ;-)
  • I think we will book our wedding planner this week and hopefully book the church as well. We have struggled finding a church that will allow you to book this early without being a  member. We are going wedding dress shopping next weekend :) I am excited!
  • We celebrated our "negative -1 anniversary" this September, lol. Wedding seems a heckuva lot closer now that it's less than a year away instead of more than a year away!

We booked the venue (pretty all-inclusive), the photographer and the DJ. I have a dress. Other than that I'm sticking to TK's 12-month planner for finding an officiant, sending invites, etc etc. So, all that's left to accomplish in the 9-12 months out section is finding an officiant. I have to say I really appreciate the checklist so I can literally show it to FI and say "this is what we have to worry about now; this can wait till later".

  • We've became members of our church (which we should have done years ago), booked the church date, put the deposit down on the hall, and contacted a few photographers.

    I love that Pinterest checklist!

I have a feeling this year will fly by.
  • We are members of our church but we live in Rockwall and are having our wedding in Dallas. So we are trying to find a sister church in Dallas close to the venue but that is where it is hard if you are not a member of that church. We are supposed to go look at another one this week. Wish us luck! :)

    Happy -1 Year. :)

So far this is what I've done:

    I've reserved my venue.
I've ordered the invites and have started assembling them.
    I've ordered my dress.
    I've ordered my shoes.
I've made my bouquets (one for me and one for tossing)
    I've made my garter.
I've bought a guest book and decorated it to my liking.
I've started making brides maid gifts (glass pearl necklace with a bracelet)

  • Wow you are way ahead of the game. Good for you!! :) I finally got my guest list finalized yesterday. FI's parents had a list of like 80 people....oy! So now I need to get a few more addresses and then start working on the food / drinks/ flowers / etc. :)
  • A lot of this wedding is going to be hand-made.  I didn't hire a wedding planner, but I did buy a wedding planner portfolio from walmart so I could get an idea of what I needed to get done.

I also made a spreadsheet with a list of things I wanted to have.  I can include more items as I see the need for them, but it also lists my estimated pricing vs my actual pricing so I can see whether I am within budget or not.

I also don't plan on having much assistance from my family, so planning in advance and budgeting are really what is going to make this work or not.  I still haven't decided whether I'm going to cater or host a potluck, but since my venue has a no-alcohol policy (it's owned by the state, hence government property) I won't have to stock a bar or anything.

I only wanted around 100 people to show up.  I had a list of like 84 or something like that estimated already, between my friends and my FH's family.  That doesn't include anyone in my family that might attend.  The venue can have up to 300 people, so as long as people either bring something with them to serve or don't expect to stay long, we should be fine.  The plus side to the venue is that I rented both the ceremony site and the reception site on the same grounds, and the total was only $1300.  It even came with tables and chairs.
  • So excited to find this board! I'm also getting married on the 27th September (I hope! unless there are some major planning disasters!) and I can't believe how organised you all are. I'm in awe of your planning skills. Besides staring non-stop at pretty pictures, having an endless debate with my FI over whether we should get married at home or a destination wedding, my actual planning has consisted of two e-mails. Which took place this morning 1)to local venue of choice to tell them my date and check their menu.

2)This resulted in an e-mail to a travel agent to find out how I can elope because the first email sounded like to much work.

    Worst/laziest bride ever.
  • I am also a 9/27/2014 bride!! I cannot wait. We've been engaged since 1/25/13 and were waiting on our venue to get a date (Busch Stadium). I've got the venue booked (obviously all inclusive with food and linens and such), found my dress last week along with my mom's dress. Have the hotel booked, all our bridesmaids and groomsmen asked and accepted. Have our guestlist started (almost done), colors picked (red, black and white), our rings purchased and we have found an officiant. Currently working on a DJ and a photographer. My fiance wants to listen to our DJ (looking into Complete) prior but the one I'm looking at doesn't allow a "preview" session or anything like that. Has anyone else run into this??

  • No longer a September 27th Bride :( We have cancelled our venue (fortunately it was free so no money lost)

    Good luck ladies!

I have no idea when my new date is. Probably January 2015. Have decided on a destination wedding so it's really just dependent on leave and family schedules. So sad I have to wait longer now, but am very excited about the new plan so worth the wait!
  • Yay! 9/27! I am a bit new to the planning process, but we have out venue booked, our rings, officiant ( my brother), and some of our bridal party. Looking at other threads, I am feeling a little behind, but I am having fun planning!! Whoot! Whoot!
  • I am recently engaged as of December, and looked to book Busch Stadium for September 27th as well looks to be  popular date! Unfortunatly all dates for Busch Stadium was already booked when I called in December :( I am now on a wait list if a date opens up this year if not looks like it will have to be next year which we really didn't want to wait till next year but I believe being married at the home of the Cardinals is well worth the wait plus we aren't going anywhere :) More time to plan I suppose, though I am struggling on what I can plan without having a date any thoughts?
