thinking about invitations!

I'm seriously considering getting my invitations from Wal-Mart, is this totally lame? I'm already scoop stressed out about having to lose weight so I figure I would go cheap on the invitations!! Anyone have any other advice for me?

  • Go for it. If you have a decent printer and buy some extra to practice the printing, it will be fine and look great.  Invites is where I decided to save some $$$ too.

  • I got ours on sale at Hobby Lobby, with my gift card I only spent 9 bucks out of pocket and that's because I needed to buy ribbon to switch out the color that came with it. Definitely saving money in the paper area lol

I actually DID get my invites from walmart. I have 272 guests, 140 invites. I managed to get 150 invites for $113.

That's the one I got. They look really pretty. I took the gem off the bows (as it rips envelopes and eh isn't the look I'm going for). It will cost .69 cents to ship though with using the bow. Without the bow, it can take forever stamps (which I recommend bulking up on since prices go up on Jan. 26th)

The templates are really easy to use. I already printed mine out too with no issues. It comes with everything you need. I needed more inserts and just used plain white card stock I already had on hand :) Let me know if you need help with anything.

I definitely recommend looking online though. The ones online at Walmart are so much better than the ones I saw in my store.

    Nope not lame at all.

ETA: I figure of all things most people will just toss the invite after the day anyways, I'd rather see our budget go towards other things than paper.  If we had a working printer we would probably do something similar

    Anniversary

  • Go for the cheaper invitations!  We found an invite we thought we liked, a pocket folder with enclosures, and a few different vendors qouted me between $8-$9 a piece!

After I stopped laughing, and as polietly as I could gave a hard No, we decided to do it ourselves.

Thankfully, I have an awesome bridesmaid with some scrapbooking skills and she found a template that was just what we are looking for.  So we are going to just buy card stock at Michaels, probably have a kinko's or someone print the inside invitation, and be done with it.  We figured we can have something just as nice as the custom invites for a small fraction of the cost.

  • I also saved money but used vistaprint. They always have coupon codes. What sizes are you guys using? Ours are 6x9 and not sure what cost of stamp will be.

It sounds like an oversized envelope, I'd imagine it being .69 cents. I highly advise you to make one and take it to the post office to be weighed. If it weighs in the .46 cent stamp, stock up and quick. Prices go up Jan. 26
