Aisle runner on the beach?

Hi ladies What are you doing for a runner? I'd like one, but don't know how to make it work on the beach.

    I was married on the beach and did not use an aisle runner.  It can be quite difficult for it to stay in place with the ocean breezes and also, the runner itself will not mold to every lump n bump in the sand, so you run the risk of someone possibly tripping on it.  What about an aisle runner do you like?  I have helped with several beach weddings and brides have used everything from starfish to conch shells as well as a standard assortment of shells as an aisle marker on both sides.  Other brides have also hung starfish, etc. from the edges of the chairs that are on the aisle.
