Can dress size 12 be altered to size 8?

I found the same wedding dress online for 1/2 the price but it's a size 12 and I am a size 8. Does anyone know about altering wedding gowns which are organza and lace with plain zipper back? Or know of anyone around the Boston Ma area to consult?

    Yes. I bought an off the rack dress size 10 and I think I am size 6 bridal. Mine is organza too, with a zipper back and buttons just for decoration. I have not had mine altered yet but the woman who owns the shop does all the alterations and told me I could get any size and she would take it in, and the alteration price would not go up for a larger dress. The way she put it, it's just a matter of cutting of 5 inches instead of 1 inch. She had me try on dresses up to a 14.

    Altering a dress two sizes (particularly taking it in, rather than out) should be relatively easy.
