We are getting married in Des Moines, but not in a church. He's nominally Catholic, I identify as Orthodox Christian, though I haven't formally converted. Neither one of us regularly attends services anywhere. We don't want a Catholic or Orthodox wedding, and my entire family is Protestant. I would like to have a Christian ceremony, as opposed to a completely secular ceremony.
Any ideas on where to begin looking for an officiant? I'd prefer someone who is used to marrying couples that aren't part of his/her "flock" so that he/she wouldn't feel weird about marrying us, without knowing us well, you know?
