Wedding Invitations & Paper

RSVP card wording.

I made a boo boo on mine, and I will have to re order. So, now that I have to re order Im going to make sure that they are perfect.

Whats the best way to word the RSVP so that people can RSVP or decline the easiest way.

This was my wording.   I have to give food choices, so I had to list them:

    Please respond by MAY 2nD

    M................................................................................................................................................

      Accepts ..............          Regrets ...............<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

PLEASE INDICATE EACH GUEST’S ENTRÉE CHOICE:

    FILET MIGNON

    ROASTED CHICKEN

    VEGETARIAN

It is posting weird, i was copy and pasting from word, so ignore the weird text!

  • We added in a line for __ seats have been reserved in your honor, but other than that it was exactly like @CMGragain's suggestion.
  • I ditto @CMGragain's suggestion, and the suggestion for 'X seats have been reserved in your honour,' to avoid having people write in additional guests.

If you're having meal choices, list them, otherwise, just have the lines for accepts and regrets.

Agreed. Idid all of what PP's have suggested, and included the X number of seats thing, too. I am having a buffet, so I didn't put meal choices as venue did not say anything about it.

ETA: If you have that, it should all be set for your RSVP's. :)

    Thank you ladies!

The more I was looking at them the more I panicked that people would 1. Not put all the names on the little line 2. They could put however many people which will then make me call and have to be like "sorry only so and so were invited" and 3 i would probably have to call almost everyone who i didn't receive an RSVP from to confirm they weren't coming lol

I'm actually going to order a whole new set of RSVP and i will use the old ones for the escort cards that I'm going to make and will have the newly printed envelopes with Mrs and Mr for thank you cards. So.. at least nothing will go to waste.

I'm going to do it like this...

    ...Please respond by DATE

we have reserved __ seats in your honor

    M_______
    M_______

    _ accepts _declines

i think that will work out the best

also should i put honor or honour?
  • I don't understand the two M_____________ lines.  The spelling of honor (honour) is optional.  The second spelling is British, and more traditional, but it is not required.

A lot of the families Im inviting are large. Also, I have noticed that one M___  line wasnt enough room to put FI and Is first and last names on for a wedding we went to in November.

    I could also do

    M____________________

  • We also have a lot of large families.  Is "M____________________" really necessary if you are using "we have reserved __ seats in your honor"?
  • Our RSVP card just did:

    M________________

to give people enough room to write their names

Because I agree that one line often isn't really enough space.

  • I would stick with a single M with two lines. Otherwise if you invite a single person without a guest, it'll be confusing to give them two name lines but only say "1 seat." They could still write the name in. Leaving off the second M leaves room for exceptionally long names to overlap, regardless of whether they're invited with a SO or guest.
