Wedding under $1000

I wanted Vegas But Fiancee wants to do it here. Even my church is to expensive. Where can I get a banquet hall with tables and chairs for as little as possible?  We know one place but its a resturant and we wanted to bring out own food, buffet style. I just need a place that has table and chairs that isnt embarrassing.  We  want to do the ceremony there and then just have dinner. We don't want a dj or anything. Very simple wedding. Any suggestions? Thanks    I'm open to any little chapels also that have package deals that we can bring our own food to also. Thanks

How about renting a ramada at a city park?

Just to give you an idea, here are the rates for public parks in the City of Tempe:

i just did a wedding at a place called "the hidden palace." it's really hidden!!!  it's not in a prime location what so ever... cave creek, south of greenway. i can't imagine that they are TOO expensive and i'm pretty sure they do the food onsite.  could be worth looking into.

Some things that will help keep you price down would be holding your wedding on any day BUT Friday and Saturday.  Also, if you don't mind a Summer wedding, many venues offer great discounts.

If you are looking for an actual wedding venue,I would check out Chapel on the Farm in Gilbert.  Here is the website: http://www.chapelonthefarm.com/
I would go talk to Amy, she is the one who runs it.  I met with them when I first started my planning process.  I know her rental price for the entire venue on "off" times (Thursdays and Sundays) is $700.  But, she was very willing to work with us if we wanted a day that was not booked or wanted a Summer Wedding.

Another venue that is nicely priced is the Japanese Friendship Garden.  There is a lovely lady on the board who may end up chiming in on this one because she got married there and LOVED it.  On an off day, you can rent the facility for 2 hours for $275.00.    Here is the website, http://www.japanesefriendshipgarden.org/html/facility_rental.html. Only bummer is no receptions, so you would have to find somewhere for that.

Good Luck.  I am sure it can be done!

I was also thinking of Inside the Bungalow, in Mesa.  http://www.insidethebungalow.com/
They let you rent for the ceremony and then charge a separate fee for the reception.  So, if you spoke with them to see if an off day would be cheaper, you may get a deal.

And, my last thought would be Virgina's House in Glendale.
Check out the "mini" wedding/receptions - $1,600 for 3-hour time block, minister, catering and cake for up to 25 guests.  Again, if you did it on an off day, you may get a better deal.  http://www.virginiashouse.com/

One other money saver would be to do a cocktail and cake reception and skip the dinner.   This would cut down on the rental time and also the food budget!

Thanks so much for all the ideas everyone:)
My mind is swimming with ideas. I would just love a wedding thats more like a party ( but with cut tables that are white with purple sashes) .. :)
I want to set out alot of food and just hang out with the people I love. I just need to find the right location. Thanks again everyone that answered.

If you are more interested in the celebration part of it, you may consider getting married at the Justice of the Peace with close friends and family and then having the reception somewhere.  This would cut down on the rental and leave more money for the party!  You may look into renting a room at a local restaurant.  Many will let you decorate as you wish.

I think I found a place :)   It a room at a scottsdale hotel...It will hold up to 80 people. They provide the tables and chairs and linens for tables. It's $375. Foe the whole day, from 6am to 11pm ( or 9pm) I can have use the whole day, thats awesome:) They also have a patio in front that we can use also. That eats some of my buget up, but I think its as good as I'll find :) I'm so excited:)

That is great!  Finding the venue is the most difficult part in my opinion!

There are so many DIY ideas on this board, the knot site and other sites on the internet that I am sure you will find great ways to be a budget bride!

Yes, I'm very interested in where you found this amazing deal!? :)
  • Yes, me too.  I'm looking for a nice wedding/ceremony location for an inexpensive price as well.  What hotel in Scottsdale did you find phxbbw6ft1 ???
  • what Scottsdale Hotel did you find a room so inexpensively?
  • I'm starting to look for a venue and I'm going crazy! What's the name of the venue in Scottsdale? We were thinking to rent a house with a big backyard too, but most of the houses don't want to rent for events :(
