Bridesmaids and Groomsmen in Indian Weddings

Just curious, traditionally Indian weddings doing have BMs and GMs. So, if you have a wedding party, what did they do in the wedding? Technically, they won't be standing with you, as you're under the mandap.

    Mine are just going to come down the aisle, as in a Western wedding, and then sit in the front row with other family members. Their role will be more symbolic than anything, and they'll give toasts at dinner, and help behind the scenes (planning bachelor/ette parties, etc.).

    BM and GM don't really have a purpose in a Hindu wedding. Brothers and sisters of the bride and groom do have a meaning. If you did have BM/GM, they'd be mostly ornamental.
