We made our favor donation, and we have a preliminary seating chart done, and are just waiting to hear back from our organist to confirm the program is ok.  My bachelorette party is tomorrow.  I have no idea what is going on for it but I'm excited.
    Have a great time!

Yesterday I dyed my hair for the last time as an un married woman!
We also got over half way done assembling programs
I created my bouquet pendant with a picture of my late father
And we sent off most final payments!

Eek! Less than two weeks here!

ETA: ALL THE PROGRAMS ARE DONE NOW!

  • FI and I just wrote our thank you speech. It will most likely need some polishing, but it feels good to have that done :)

  • Today we created and put together, our Out Of Town Bags, we put personlized labels on water bottles, we printed and folded the programs for the ceremony too.    The table placings are mostly complete as well.  OMG 19 days!!

Oh, I have a question for you (as I am about to do this as well).  Did you label the bags with the guest names or just label it Name&NameWedding (what ever the block is under)?

  • @wabanzi we didn't label the bags with each's guest's name.  There will be a greeting card inside each bag saying welcome to our wedding and with local information and wedding details again.

Thanks for the reply.  We wrote little messages too (each one is a little different/handwritten) so maybe they won't think they are generic.  But I was thinking I would double the snacks/treats for couples, but then realized that I would need to label them with names.  I'm not sure if the hotel will do it this way or not.

  • @wabanzi we didn't want to have the hotel match up names, so they are all the same food items and note.

We added water and personlized the label with our own, advil, Emergen-C., pack of gum, two mini candy pieces, bag of chips, bag of something sweet and a bag of chocolate covered blueberries. What did you include?

We have local maps, water bottles with the personalized labels--I actually like doing those), personalized door hangers, chocolate truffles, mini bag of personalized M&Ms (left overs from my bachelorette my MoH was kind enough to donate), some Trader Joes nuts and granola snacks, list of our favorite restaurants, list of things to do, and a little personal note.

I think it is important to show you are thinking of them and appreciate their travel.  Honestly, I think just a little note would be fine.  I just didn't know if I should label them by guest--that way I could put in a few extra treats and bottle of water for the couples.

  • @wabanzi sounds like a great bag of treats. I love anything from Trader Joe's.  Most people staying at the hotels are local or grew up in NJ, so we didn't include any maps or restaurants....

Nearly all of our people are flying in…from Canada.  We don't know if they will rent cars with GPS or not, so thought it would be a good thing.  Funny though, our visitor center didn't want to give us the maps!  Crazy. They had this giant stack (like you find at any hotel) and I just needed 15. The lady insisted that I need to call ahead for such a "big" order.  I responded-"Miss, I'm leaving with the maps. They are visitors, so they get one."  My city drives me nuts sometimes.

Yesterday I got 30-day-out messages from our venue and DJ saying they need stuff. Woops. So getting that done today. Yesterday I also emailed my alterations lady to change our next fitting date.

Eeek we are also in the middle of moving and job searches too. It's easy to feel like we're getting a lot done when we are, in fact, totally neglecting the wedding.

  • I realized yesterday that I have until Thursday morning to have my classroom/end-of-the-year stuff all finished and get myself packed for 5 weeks away, including time at my parents, his parents, the wedding, and the honeymoon, but ALSO to get my apartment (which greatly suffers during the chaos of the last few weeks of school) not only cleaned but organized, because when I return it will be with both sets of our parents helping us move in all his stuff.

I may have had a mini freak-out over that yesterday...

Also, I went in on Thursday to try on my dress after it was altered. It was supposed to be ready in mid-May, but the lady's sister died after a sudden illness. The lady didn't let out the sides like she was supposed to. We could barely get it zipped. The lady who was there working was not very helpful. Thankfully, one of my bridesmaids (who I work with) is related to another girl at the bridal shop. She texted her yesterday, and they were able to let it out right away. I was going to go try it on this morning, but she texted back and said that the owner of the shop wants me to come in on Monday, because he was not happy with how the other lady treated me and he wants to be there. So, now I'm waiting on that...
  • RSVPs are due today. Only three people have not responded, not too bad. Now I have to get used to the fact that my wedding is 20 days away!
  • I had my final dress fitting last week, and it looked great, we finalized the day of timeline with ouur photographer.  I had a few emails as well finalizing things with other vendor.  This weekend I took care of the place cards and finalized the seating chart.  12 days to go!

My venue emailed me back about our decisions on food/drink. Decisions are hard. I mentioned last minute I wanted champagne as one of the hosted drinks and she asked if I meant for a toast. IDK. Champagne is actually cheaper than wine so I was thinking maybe have it all night. Also confirmed to do a fitting on Friday morning.

  • I went in for another fitting today. I'm not thrilled. It fit perfectly when I bought it, but it was a little tough to zip last week after coming back from being altered (she was supposed to let out the sides a little, but didn't--but it was kind of a mess getting it back from her because her sister died after a sudden illness, so I'm not upset with her). The lady helping me at the salon was not very helpful, and basically just told me to have someone squeeze me in and then 'smush and spread everything out'.

I left it there to be steamed. When I got home, I talked to my mom, and I realized I wasn't totally happy with how it fit. She actually called the bridesmaid I work with, and we made arrangements with her cousin who works there to have them let out the sides a little.

Well, now it's a little bunched and puckered on the one side. The lady assured me she can fix that, but I'm skeptical. And then I asked them to grab out my belt so I could see how it all looked together, and they couldn't find it anywhere (it had been in the bag with the dress). Eventually it turned up on the rack of belts for sale! I'm upset with myself because it fit like a glove. I didn't think I'd gained any weight (and certainly not in my rib cage area!), but apparently I did. And I'm upset that they didn't handle it well in the first place. And I'm upset that they puckered my beautiful dress when they let it out!

My DOC recommended we not do a champagne toast, as much of it gets left on the tables. Instead we are having champagne available at the bar for people to order for the toast if they want.

  • We booked the hotel rooms for the girls for the night before and I finalized the schedule with the hairstylist and makeup artist.  Submitted my order for the rehearsal dinner cake.  And I've resorted to checking The Weather Channel daily as of tomorrow we will be in the 10 day weather window....

I'm hoping to hit up Michaels or AC Moore tonight to buy supplies to make a flower wreath/crown for one of my bridesmaids.  She has super short hair and we couldn't find anything pre-made that was the right shade of blue - wish me luck!

  • I have my dress!

Now to check on the ties...they were supposed to be shipped to FI's parents, but they haven't shown up there yet.

Your dress will be beautiful, but I am so sorry the alterations have been such a hassle.  I too had problems with my alterations.  They charge a fortune, and you just feel like you've been taken and scammed.

Leave a bad review.  It will help you feel better.  The dress can be fixed.

They actually didn't charge me for anything they did (I just paid the lady for the bustle and the buttons--$30). And she was much nicer when I went back yesterday. But it still seems slightly puckered. I'm going to ask my mom what she thinks when I get there later this week, and then take it somewhere up there if I need to.
  • I did nothing today!!! It was fabulous. I'm totally in coasting mode now after 2 years of planning, it is all coming together and I know that at the end of the day FI and I will be married and that's all that matters :) Tomorrow FI has his bachelor party and I have my bachelorette. Friday is our rehearsal and the rehearsal party and then Saturday we get married! I am so excited!!!

  • I think I've got our seating arrangements figured out.  I may have to move a couple people around after FI reviews it. There are 2 people we still haven't heard from - we don't think they are coming, but there is space to pop them in if they are. I think it's looking pretty good.  i should be able to do escort cards next week.

We are also most of the way done with assembling our play list.  We still have to organize it in the order that we want, and add a few more songs, but we've got all of the music now.
    image
  • I finished cleaning and organizing my apartment so it's ready for FI to move in when we get back. I packed for 3+ weeks at my parents and then his (including several special events requiring nice outfits), all the wedding stuff, and the honeymoon. I ran a whole bunch of errands all afternoon. Now I'm taking a quick break on the couch before I load up the car so I can head out early tomorrow morning. The wedding isn't until the 28th, so there's this weird "hurry up and get everything done" feeling, and then I'm going to have nothing to do!
  • Our tent, table, and chairs were delivered this morning!! Tomorrow we decorate for the wedding on Saturday!!!!!!!!
