  • @SSCC2925@yahoo.com ...Definitely update with reviews after your wedding! I'm getting married in the same area as you (same church actually and same town for reception), but in June 2015 so I have my main vendors, but am holding off on the others. I'd especially love to hear about the bakery and your hair/make-up.

  • @KnotPorscha, could we get this added as a sticky to the top of this forum? It would be a really great resource to future brides.

    Vendor reviews
Ceremony Venue - Lightology's rooftop garden. Only a handful of weddings a year there, so it's a very unique setting if you can gamble the Chicago weather. Wonderful experience and  our photos are amazing.

Reception Venue - Zed451  Brunch reception, all guests raved about the food and service. Very affordable option for a Saturday wedding.

Ceremony Music (if outside the church) - SimpleAV they ran our playlist and provided the mics and music amplification. B+

Photograher - Markitphotography A+ loved all our photos, the photographer is very easy to work, totally professional and fun and and really pays attention to the details.

Florist - Bunches in Lincoln Park A+ great for small and large budgets

    Linens/Lighting/Rentals - Tablescapes For ceremony chair rentals - A+

Hair & Makeup - Salon Moxie Ann is super A++

    Accessories (Veil/shoes/hair pieces, etc) Etsy

    Tux/Suits - Monitor Formal Wear  Solid B

Invitations - Pear Tree Greetings  Very affordable and easy to use.

Transportation - Uber black car service (seriously, we only needed to go a few blocks to a few places)

Hotel Block - Aloft City Center and The Godfrey Both great to work with. Our first look photos from the Godfrey terrace are unique and wonderful.

Rehearsal Dinner - Connie's Pizza Gold Coast - Very nice private room, service was great. Also very affordable packages.

Favors - Busy Beaver Buttons (support your local shops A+)

I realize you are offering reviews, but your comment regarding your officiant is a bit misleading.  There is NO such thing as a married Catholic priest.  There was NOTHING Catholic about your ceremony.  Your ceremony is NOT valid in the eyes of the Catholic church.

I say this only because I do not want anyone reading this to think they can have a ceremony anywhere other than in a Catholic church and be recognized by the Catholic church.

Correct, it is not the sacrament, and no, it wouldn't be recognized by the Catholic church. That was a choice we made. My husband was previously married in the Catholic church, divorced, and has his marriage annulled. Though he could have remarried in the Church, it felt weird to me. I'm not saying this in a snarky way, but the Church does not have a monopoly on worship and prayer, so having the Crowley-Kochs officiate and lead everyone through prayers and blessings was perfect for us.
