Wedding Invitations & Paper

Can't seem to find this scenario anywhere...

I have several families on my invite list who have children both under and over the age of 18, all living at home.  I know that you're supposed to send each adult over the age of 18 their own separate invitation, but how do you address the rest of the family?

Option 1:

Outer envelope:
Mr. and Mrs. Family
address

Inner Envelope
Mr. Family
Mrs. Family
Kid 2

Option 2:
Outer Envelope:
The Family Family
address

Inner envelope:
Mr. Family
Mrs. Family
Kid 2

Which one is correct?

    Kid 1 and Kid 2

ETA - this is only if the parents are married and the wife took the husbands name and the kids have the same last name.

  • Kid 1 is over 18. Doesn't that mean they should get their own invitation?
  • Yes, they do.

Then do exactly what Maggie said but only list kid 2.

Yes, I was just listing how you would write the kids name if there is more then one kid under 18. I didn't realize that you named the 18+ kid, kid 1 and the one under 18 as kid 2.

  • Ok awesome, thanks!
  • Parents and kids:
    Mr and Mrs Clifford Huxtable
    Vanessa and Rudy

    "Kids" over 18:
    Mr Theodore Huxtable
    Theo's girlfriend

    Denise Huxtable
    Martin Kendall
    Olivia

    Sondra Huxtable
    Elvin Tibideaux

They would get 4 total invitations sent to their house. :)

Obviously I'm out of the loop because I just put "The [name] Family", and everyone understood that it included their adult children (and in some cases, their grandchildren) that were living with them...

But I guess if you're intending to be socially correct, I'd go with what other people have said. *shrug*
I've only had one person with an adult living at home that wasn't sure if the adult-kid was invited, and that's because I addressed the envelope weird and wasn't thinking when I did so. It was easily cleared up with an email.

But, that's just us. I guess we're super casual.
