Price of DJ's- Expensive?

What is the average cost of reception DJ's? I don't know whether I'm making a smart choice and getting a good deal.

    The DJ we are considering has packages that range from $1600 to $4300+, it totally depends on what you want your DJ to provide in addition to the reception music.  The costs go up pretty quickly if you decide to add uplighting, intelligent lighting and a lighting technician, monograms, plasmas with photo montages, or any live musicians.  The additions are nice, but do come with a hefty price tag in my opinion.  How are the prices in your area?
