Our flowers came in at $1350ish. This was my least needed item on my list. I tried avoiding get flowers at all. They just aren't important to me and I am highly allergic to the them... so I could careless to have them around.

This was a big deal for my cousin and according to my sister her flowers were about $9000 which they bumped an open bar to get more flowers but ran out of budget to have flower centre pieces. My sister said this was easily 1/3 of budget if not more.
Holy smokes! I would never bump an open bar for more flowers, but to each their own I guess.  We are hoping to stay around $3000 for our flowers, and so far I am under what I was expecting to spend (whoot whoot...more money for other splurges like my shoes :-) ). I was expecting a much higher cost initially since I had no clue what flowers cost to begin with and because two of my friends that got married in the past 2ish years have both spent around $10,000 for their flowers.  I also live in a very expensive area to get married in (NJ like many ladies I see on here).  It really wasn't important to me to have expensive or exotic blooms.

Stuck in box- Holy smokes is right!!! That was a HUGE etiquette no-no for sure!

Kristina - Good job at coming under budget!

Yeah they didn't tell anyone they bumped it until the weekend before and his parent's freaked out. Apparently the grooms dad ripped him a new one over it. So they revoked paying for something, I think spending money on their honeymoon and paid for the open bar instead which they weren't impressed about.

Having an open bar as a big deal to us, so we made sure it happened.

OP are you in Northern or Central NJ?  If so, try my florist - Conroy's in Morris Plains.  I had pretty much exactly what your quote is for (14 tables, et al) for just under $4,000.  Also, if your florist will let you purchase your own candles, try this magical place:
It's a floral distributor (open to the public) in Saddle Brook and I got all of my candles there.  I also got stuff for the favors (takeout containers, ribbon, etc.)  They have so much stuff at great prices.

Here are my centerpieces, head table and ceremony space:

My FSIL was quoted $1000 for floral centrepieces (and had 30 tables) so she switched to a candelabra/smaller floral option which work out significantly cheaper (and still looked lovely).

I booked a stylist so I didn't have to pay the outrageous markup on wedding florals (this is what we do at work when we need florals for shoots too). Luckily my stylist is obsessed with foraging and I'm to be married at a private villa in Italy which also has an olive grove. So she will be foraging most of the arrangements and sourcing very few additional blooms direct from the growers farm or local market for minimal spend.

Holy cow. I have a friend who is a professional wedding florist. Now I want to give her the biggest hug ever. We had A-MAZING florals. And she charged us $500 which I doubt even covered her cost as she told me it was her wedding gift to us. I'm glad I gave her a ginormous gratuity.
  • @lc07 Super lucky. I need a florist friend.
  • I'm budgeting 3-4k in Miami, FL, which is quite an expensive area as well.

I'm not a floral expert but this seems reasonable to me. The cost of the bouquets are much less than I have seen them going for in my area. The centerpieces are exactly the per dollar amount I would expect for the description. $350 @ 14 tables is the majority of your cost.

If it is out of budget, maybe you can ask the florist if there are ways to get the same feel and look you want for your centerpieces at a $200-$250 per piece saving you $1400-$2100?
  • I would consider our wedding "luxury on a budget". Which is about $50,000 in Washington DC. The flower quotes killed me though, so I ended up hand making all the flowers out of paper. They did come out beautiful and cost about $300 in materials. I think I'm going to sell them afterwards! Except my bouquet, which is very personalized.
  • Is there any wiggle room with type of rose? I know when I was looking at the millions of different roses with my florist (okay that's an exaggeration but there's a LOT) there were some that were way more per stem then other types of rose...I would double check that. We're looking at around $2000 for everything and I'm on the coast of VA.
  • Mine are $7,500 but we live in the Chicago area. It is for 35 tables, 8 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, bride, groom, parents, readers, etc. Plus church and various reception flowers. I felt it was a lot, but my mom thought it was very reasonable.

That's pretty good for having so many tables.  I had 7 guest tables, an escort card table arrangement, 3 BMs, my bouquet, and some bouts/corsages, and we paid $6100, but it was in NYC.

My flowers will end up running about $2500 for everything. I'd really like to cut it back by about $500 (I budgeted for $2k for flowers but have a little wiggle room) but I just love everything so much that it's hard to find places to cut from. We'll have between 13 and 14 tables (bridesmaids bouquets will cover 6 centerpieces, plus 3 tall centerpieces, and the remaining centerpieces will either match the bridesmaids bouquets or consist of black lanterns with candles), 6 bridesmaids, 4 groomsmen, corsages and boutinieres for the moms, dads, grandparents, great grandparents, and my great aunt and uncle, plus a mini bout for the RB and a wrist corsage for the FG, decor for the staircase in our venue's entrance, a large display in the middle of our buffet, floral aisle decor that will be moved to tables for cocktail hour, and floral decor for the arch we'll be married under.

  • Flowers were one of my budget areas, open bar and steak were much higher priorities for me.

That said, I got mine from Costco and thought they were gorgeous, I got several compliments on them, my high end photographer was especially shocked by the quality for the price.  I ordered two of their smallest package so in total I had 2 bridal bouquets, 4 bridesmaids bouquets, 4 corsages, 6 boutonnieres, and 2 small mothers bouquets for $500 with tax and air freighted to my house 2 days before the wedding.  They do centerpieces too I just didn't order any, only catch is they recommend you put them in water once they arrive so it could be tricky to transport them from your place to the venue if you have a bunch.
  • our came in at a little under 6000.00

  • Our initial quote was for just over 5k but we haven't done linens, mock-ups, etc. so it will probably end up being closer to 7. I'm in Atlanta where weddings are also stupid expensive.

  • My venue provides flowers for cocktail hour and all the different rooms there are. I didn't realize how much that saved me until read all these quotes.
  • we dont have  quote yet but we are budgeting about 2 - 3k in flowers and decor

  • I told our florist at the first meeting that we couldn't go above 2k. We're in an expensive area and wanted to reserve the budget for food, photographs, open bar, etc. We were able to keep the price down by keeping things simple: in season flowers, no high priced blooms (sorry, lilies of the valley), minimal ceremony decorations, minimal everything really. FI and I talked about it in advance and we just can't remember flowers from weddings we've been to, food we remember.

  • My florist quote is under $2K in Massachusetts (not Boston). But I'm really cutting back on flowers - I'm using my bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets as centerpieces, and using lanterns and candles on half the tables. We're really only getting two or three other arrangements besides that. I decided to spend the money on the venue, caterer, and an open bar.
  • We are located in the North East.  $4000 for our flowers.  I was just glad my florist rented the vases.  I paid in the $200 for big tall centerpieces, as I could rent the vase.  Didn't do flowers in the church either, the church is so big, no one would even see alter flowers.
  • We didn't really have a "budget", but our original estimate was about $7000 and gave DH sticker shock, so we tweaked some things (which, seeing how our flowers turned out, the $7000 probably would have been WAY too many!) and ended up spending $4500.
  • We're at about $5-5.5k in Philly and I sourced a lot of the decorative items (candles, candleholders, etc) separately to keep costs low. Here's the breakdown:

    Ceremony archway: $1k
    Bridal bouquet: $350
    5 flower crowns: $75 each = $375
    4 corsages: $30 each = $120
    6 bouts: $20 each = $120
    Table decor: 10 tables at $260 each = $2600
And a few hundred for extra moss and bulbs to decorate miscellaneous areas like the bar, welcome table, escort card display, hightop cocktail tables and dessert table.
