Question about Alterations - Should I Bother?

I purchased my dress from David's Bridal. As of now, I need no alterations, however I am trying to lose weight - aren't we all. I've heard not to use David's for alterations, so that wasn't a thought. The more I look at my dress, the more I wish that the bodice was about a half of an inch lower than it is currently. Would this be a difficult alteration? Should I bother?

It depends on what you mean by lower. Like, are you just trying to lower the bust line? or does the whole bodice need to come down at the waist? Whether or not it is a difficult alteration depends on what needs to be lowered. Altering a neckline is simple. taking the dress apart at the waist and lowering the whole bodice is harder.

I am sorry that I wasn't more clear. I meant the neckline. I feel like my strapless sweetheart gown is coming almost to my collar bones. A neckline is a simple alteration? Even on a corset top? I know NOTHING about sewing and alterations.

Yep. A neckline is a really simple alteration, but cost will depend on the embellishments you have on the dress. Can you post a photo or link to the dress you bought?
