Ceremony Time?

What are the rest of the January 2015 brides doing for ceremony time? Anybody else doing an evening wedding? We don't want to do a first look and get pictures in the daylight that way. Is 5pm okay for getting some sun setting/rest night time pictures?

Re: Ceremony Time?

  • We are doing a 5pm wedding, with a first look and (hopefully) all bridal party pictures beforehand.
  • We're doing a 11:30am wedding with first look and bridal party photos beforehand. We wanted to avoid having the reception end after dark in case of bad weather or road conditions, so we looked up the sunset time at this handy dandy website:

Since western Washington tends to be pretty gloomy and low-light even in the day time, it made sense to do photos in the morning.

    Hey!

I've heard from several brides, and they mentioned that they plan to start their ceremony at 4pm - 5pm. After the ceremony, a cocktail reception follows. This allows the photographer to capture a series of wedding photography shots before, during, and a little while after the sun set.

(The starting time of your ceremony also depends on the duration of your ceremony! Many of our brides have done a destination wedding in Bali - as such, the length of their ceremony tends to be a little longer, as they also partake in traditional Balinese ceremonies.)

  • We're getting married in Vegas and our ceremony will start at 4:30pm - the venue said this would be perfect for a sunset ceremony. We will have a reception immediately following at the same venue.

  • I'm having a 5pm ceremony with pictures from 3:30-4:30 my photographer is really excited for the light at that time. Hopefully really pretty snow too (fingers crossed)
  • We are planning a 1:30pm ceremony because we live in Wisconsin, and it's dark at 4pm.
  • We are having a 5pm ceremony.
Haven't decided if we will do first look photos, but we will at least do some bridal party photos and whatever else before, then there is a cocktail hour so we will do some more then, but hope to be at some of the cocktail hour. Doors to reception open at 6:45
