  • Wow. That's lovely.

I was already planning to donate my dress after the wedding. Now I'm questioning where it should go.

I'm in the same boat. However, I have 2 dresses to donate, so at least I don't have to pick just one charity!

  • My SIL turned mom's wedding dress into a christening dress and suit. A lot of my nieces and nephew were christened in the dress. I'm not a huge fan of this SIL, but she did an amazing job. She said it took her days to get the courage to make the first cut.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I was planning to donate my dress afterwards as well, but this is great too!

  • This is a lovely idea.  I really don't think I'll be able to part with my dress under any circumstances.  I inherited my mother's, and I intend to leave mine to potential children, nieces, nephews, whoever.  I think you ladies are all wonderful!

  • I'll look into this or something like it.  I have zero emotional attachment to my dress but it would be nice to give it to people in need who could benefit from it in their time of grief.

  • Only read the title. Can't read any further.

  • I have a friend who volunteers to make these angel gowns.  I plan to donate or sell my dress.  I thought about doing this, but my dress is rather plain (organza, no beading, no lace), so I'm not sure how well it would work.

  • I made it approximately three sentences in. Bossman has a client in the conference room. Not crying in front of a client. Not. Not.

  • I donated mine to Brides Against Breast Cancer because it was my stepmom's 5 year cancer-free anniversary right around my wedding. Had I not, I would have donated to this in a hot second.

  • See I love this but when I mentioned it to H, he thought it was morbid and sad. Either way my dress will be donated but just not sure if it will be a Cinderella Project or Angel Gown charity.

I kind of feel the same way. I mean, it's great that someone is doing it, but it feels totally morbid to me.
  • I'm considering hitting up the local Goodwill(s) or other thrift stores that have wedding gowns, buying them and donating them to this organization. Mostly because, I just can't seem to part with my own gown, but I want to support the cause.
