transportation

I am looking at possibly booking my wedding ceremony at Aria and the Reception at Cosmopolitan.  On the map they look close, but I know the hotels are huge and can take forever to get from one to the next.  So is it walking distance or should I consider transportation.  Does anyone know how much presidential would charge for one way trip?  We want to get the DDB for after the dinner so I would just need transportation to dinner

Well, walking distance is subjective; time of day, age of people, time of year.  It could be 55 or it could be 110, etc.  I wouldn't consider it a super long walk, but keep in mind that you have to go out to the strip and back in for nearly anything on the strip, so what looks short could easily be 20 minutes of walking.  That might be fine for some, not so much for others.  Of course where your events are being held within each resort could play a role too; i.e.  if you have to walk 10 minutes just to get to the bus pickup, and another 10 to get from bus to the next destination, whereas if you walked directly it would be 20 minutes total, well then you're walking the same amount either way.

They're 'kind of' next to each other.  Kind of like how Mandalay and Luxor are next to each other, but if it weren't for the mall, you'd be taking a 20 minute stroll outside, which may or may not be so nice depending on the time of year and how much you like walking.

Thank you vg, you pretty much said what I was thinking. I am not sure where the chapel is located within aria and where wicked spoon is located within Cosmo. I love the aria chapel but I am not lovin the restaraunt choices inside. I have three chapel/reception combinations and I am trying to crunch numbers on each senario to make a choice. It's kind of hard to do site unseen
  • Am going to Aria august 5th and 6th . We are getting married there next march. I will do my best to make a point of taking a stroll from the chapel to the wicked spoon :)

  • Oh and the chapel is down in the convention area of the hotel if that helps....

    This might help too:

I think this was drawn before the Chapel opened, but the Convention Center is well labeled.

    COSMO PROPERTY MAP: http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/explore/facilities-maps.aspx
Wicked Spoon is on the second floor, as far back from the entrance as possible.

So it looks like your guests would have to go down a level, walk 1/4 mi outside, then probably walk another 1/4 mi through Cosmo to get to the buffet.

I don't think you could really book transportation to get from one to the other, since most of the travel would be within the casinos.

Personally I think it would be fine (I think people expect to travel between ceremony & reception site), but if you have lots of kids or older adults coming, it might be more difficult.
  • If you walk out of Aria near Julian Serrano and into Crystals near the Todd English Pub you can exit Crystals near Prada at the walkway that goes over and into Cosmo.  From the walkway you'll enter Cosmo on the 2nd level where Wicked Spoon is.  Maybe a 15 min walk from when you exit Aria to Wicked Spoon.  I think it's totally doable.  Transportation between the two would be more trouble than it's worth I think.

  • Hmm, the walk might not be so bad after all.

Based on the maps mnupp posted, some further digging around and a little tinkering with Google Street View, it appears there is a path you can take that will get you there much quicker than out to the strip and back in (since wicked spoon is at the back valet area on the 2nd floor).

So the chapel is on the promenade level of Aria, i.e. a stupid way to say third floor.  The casino level is 2nd floor, then there's street level.  Here's how you do it:

    1) I'm not sure where on the third floor the chapel actually is but this map suggests there are escalators directly adjacent to it:

    http://www.arialasvegas.com/sites/default/files/documents/ARIA Wedding Chapel_Floor Plan_0713.pdf

That being the case, it makes me think that it is located next to the south escalators near the Viva Elvis Theater and entrance to the convention center area.

    2) I suspect your first step when you leave would be to follow the signs for the entrance to the pool because there are two sets of escalators that leave the third floor for the casino and you do not want to take the south escalators because then everyone would have to walk through the casino after the ceremony and come out smelling all smokey.  So head towards the pool entrance and guest elevators (not sky suite elevators which are in the middle) that are on the north end.

    3) Those escalators will drop you off right on top of the north valet parking entrance.  Walk out that door.  This will put you in the circle that Vdara and Aria share with Harmon Avenue cutting through under the circle down at street level.

    4) You'll walk across the bridge/circle sidewalk like you were going to Vdara.  You can see the exact sidewalk in the sunlight at:

    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=aria&hl=en&ll=36.108769,-115.177231&spn=0.001686,0.002454&sll=36.095303,-115.174313&sspn=0.022436,0.033388&t=h&dirflg=w&hq=aria&hnear=Las+Vegas,+Clark,+Nevada&deg=90&z=19

    5) Cross over Harmon and right before you get to Vdara, where you see a few pedestrians on the map, the sidewalk cuts to the right.  There is an elevator/stairs there down to street level; take that.

    6) Take a left on Harmon and it will lead you to Cosmo's rear (west) entrance.

    7) Go in, escalator to second floor, Wicked Spoon is right there.

  • I ditto what ktbabe530 said~ that was exactly how I walked from Aria when I stayed there and to wicked spoon - walk out of aria and into Crystals. it will lead you to cosmo through the indoor walkway/mall

Aria's chapel is on the first level of the convention center. From the casino level, you go up the escalators, go left and pass the zarkana theater and the walkway will bring you into the convention center. take the escalators down one level and the chapel is RIGHT next to the escalators.

Wow you guys are amazing!!! We are comparing aria/wicked spoon to ceasars/buchannal as options and transportation was a big concern.   My mom and dad would be the oldest ones and they are marathon runners(plus frequent vegas and hate getting limos) and the rest are fairly young and athletic, so I think as long as we apply the money we saved on booze later in the evening they won't even notice.
  • that was what we were considering! i've had my heart set on having aria as our cermeony venue. and we had aria's buffet (for the close proximity), cosmo's wicked spoon, and caesar's bacchanal as our reception options. My first choice was originally wicked spoon, but before meeting the coordinator we ate there for dinner and the service was not impressive. We were told by the cashier that we would have until 9:15pm to grab food. Not a problem as it was just 8pm. But the chefs inside the stations started taking away the food and started washing the trays when it wasn't even 9pm yet. RIGHT at 9pm a few stations even turned off their lights. The coordinator was really nice.. but I cancelled on her because of that night's experience. It was on a slow weekday.. but still.. It was our 2nd year at wicked spoon. The year before it was awesome. :\ Aria's buffet looks nice and they had an expansion. but my dad preferred that we had a private room and Aria does not have that. We finally decided on bacchanal despite the $20+ extra per person. Loved the private room, loved the food, and everyone was really nice. The head of the busboys/girls came to chat with us (she was walking around the restaurant chatting with most patrons) and when I mentioned we were considering having our reception there she immediately brought the manager over. The service really wowed us. :)

@rabbitintulle why was it 20+ more per person? Is that because you used the private dining or just because you went through group sales? The packet I got emailed today just says 38+pp. did the 20+ include alc? I would be okay with 20+pp if it includes drinks, but it doesnt make sense to pay more just because we have a group. Gah! Now I need to go email her!

I stayed at Cosmo in the west tower (where wicked spoon is located) a few weeks ago and walked, I'm sure, the exact way VG described. Some v impressive map reading skills! It was a very straightforward walk. When walking from the Aria you would would exit the way VG described via the circle/taxi/valet exit and head round to the Vdara. Just before the entrance to the Vdara there are stairs and a elevator to take you down a street level, a few mins walk along this street takes you to the Cosmopolitans taxi/valet entrance. The elevators to Wicked Spoon are immediately to your right as you enter and when you exit the elevator you are right at wicked spoon. It was incredibly handy as we had family staying in the Aria & Vdara. In fact, we were all really impressed we could get to each hotel so quickly, I didn't anticipate such an easy walk. I would definitely book this without transportation and would have no qualms about guests walking this short distance.

This way also avoids the crowds, we were the only ones walking this way.

We got from my room at Cosmo to my parents room at the Vdara in ten mins. Thank goodness for my Dad who txt me directions or I don't know which way I would have taken as I woundn't have thought to go this way.

The other benefit of the route that ktbabe & VG pointed out is that since most of it is inside, it will be air conditioned. Plus there will be plenty of window shopping to do during the walk through Crystals. Totally doable!!

$38pp should be wicked spoon's price? to book bacchanal's private room it's 60.99pp, f&b min is $3300. the drinks pkg is an extra 15.99pp. 60.99 is the group pricing - it guarantees that your entire group will be seated together. bacchanal's regular price is $45pp I believe on a weekday.

  • I was going to say the same.. just getting back from Vegas.. and we stayed at Planet Hollywood.. our window was directly in front of Cosmo.. and I could see Aria.. I statted wondering about the walking distance "through" and b thought. .yes.. it may a lil walk.. BUT.. with having to take limos and transportation around the strip... there was sooo much traffic. .. it would take more time and also... wastes money for the distance which would mostly b turns to get out of strip traffic..lol..

and any dishonest transportation company would probably just take your money.. u know..

Your right 38+ was wicked spoon, bacchanal info just says 35.99+ pp. I emailed them first because that was one bf first choice, they have been the worst about emailing me back. And the information they sent was a packet of all of the restaurants with starting prices, no details at all and no beverage information. So I emailed back with the specific restaraunt s that we would like more info on and we have been waiting for days. Plus, we keep getting flooded with informations from the other jarrahs properties, which I don't really want bc we aren't interested in those chapels.

I too got a package that says Caesars citywide buffet guide
I got it back in Feb
35.99 is the child's price for dinner on fri and sat.. no? adult pricing should be 65.99 (weekends)
I'm pretty sure it isn't 35.99 for adults. as it's about $45pp for a walk in on a weekday. group pricing is more for sure
I'm thinking they gave you the wrong package or sthg..?!

    7) Go in, escalator to second floor, Wicked Spoon is right there.
We did a scouting run yesterday using these instructions.

    Notes:
Total time from top of escalator next to chapel until we reached wicked spoon = 15 minutes and .8 miles, but we were stupid and followed the sign for Wicked Spoon instead of listening to Vegas Groom and taking the elevators.  So when you walk into the Cosmo, take the elevators immediately to your right instead of walking into the casino to the escalator.  Will save you 2-4 minutes.

The path was really windy as soon as we got onto the street.  We will probably not be taking the walk ourselves (along with our older guests) but will probably make our friends walk over.
