Re: 10/10/2015!!

  • Hello! I am another 10/10/15 as well!

I have booked quite a bit - we became engaged last December. So far we have:

    Venue with caterer
    Photographer
    DJ
    Videographer
    Officiant (family member)
    My dress has been ordered
Engagement photos done this week (we wanted Summer and next Summer wouldn't work for save the dates)

Listing it, it looks like a lot. We have spread things out though within the last 9 months and have locked in 2014 prices, which is really helpful. It also has been helping us to stick to a budget.

Wow, you just inspired me to get the ball rolling.  We're still tryna decide on a venue lol
  • Oh man, seeing it again all listed out - I'm even like whoa, slow your roll, inconceivable! My mom has a "great" variation on the "you have time phrase" - she just LOVES to tell me that "you're ready to go for this October!" which, not so much.

Once we had the venue, things just kinda steamrolled. Every couple months I would get into a phase where I just wanted to get stuff done. All of our vendors have come via recommendations, so we just went with the first person we met with if they met our budget and we clicked.

I did discover an awesome Groupon for Vistaprint if anyone is going to use them for any stationary! Right now it's either $27 or $30 for $60 there. Those deals are like gold so just a little PSA!
  • Wow inconceivable you are A LOT like me and what I have done!  how exciting right!? :)
  • I am 10/10/15 too! I'm just starting to plan. Things book up fast, especially for the fall in New England where I live so I feel like I am getting a late start on things.
  • 1 year and 1 month ladies!!!!!

  • The fall in Tennessee books like crazy! I thought we had plenty of time but I'm realizing in such a transient town many couples were thinking the same as me, which is booking on a holiday weekend is great so out of town friends and family could more easily turn the wedding weekend into a mini vacation.

  • we only have been engaged 3 weeks now!! it seems like it was yesterday, but we are talking to the church and setting up all that (catholic) and we have found all the venues, I know which one I want, because the church is in his hometown where he grew up, but the venue I want is in the next town over across the street from the neighborhood I grew up in. where a lot of my family still lives! but other than that we have a photographer...

  • One year! One year! One year! 365 days!

Can you tell I'm excited? :)
  • I KNOW! I'm excited, too :) In one year I will be 2 hours and 50 minutes from wedded bliss!

  • I was excited today too, until I read my Facebook messages and had a snarky "I better get an invite, otherwise you're cut like all the rest of those people who clearly didn't invite all their Facebook friends and still think we should care about their weddings!"

    Umm, okay?
I've posted MAYBE three things on Facebook about my wedding since changing my status to engaged.  Did you really need to be that crass?

We just literally announced it yesterday. I am waiting for that to happen. Some of the so called "friends" have already started in on passive aggressive "yay"s and comments. People are just rude.

  • Ugh, right?  I understand that posting every tiny detail about your wedding on Facebook can be super obnoxious. One of my former co-workers got married this past weekend and she was straight up crazy...like one of those brides that is pitching a fit two weeks before her RSVP deadline that she hadn't gotten any back and was calling people out by name in her statuses.  Seriously, honey...take a Valium and chill the eff out.  In two weeks then you can start harassing people. Privately.  It was annoying and downright tacky--albeit a good reminder of what NOT to do.

However, this is one of the biggest events in a person's life.  It's natural for someone to be excited and want to share things that they have accomplished in this giant job of planning a wedding.  A little tolerance will go a long way.

Best part?  I had already taken him off the guest list before he sent that message.
(Okay, a little vindictive on my part? Sure, but I can't deny that it felt kinda satisfying.)
  • This is why it is hard for people who really utilize social media a lot yo keep mum. I never planned on announcing our wedding date, it just happened during the excitement. Now to keep my mouth shut on location, lol!!!

  • I have friends on FB that I used to be very close with, but not anymore. They announced and talked about their weddings on FB, but not once did I think I would b invited. Some people have balls
  • Less then a year! I was so excited on Friday. ahhh now it's time to start doing my DIY stuff.

  • I'm another 10/10/15 bride in the NYC area. An earlier poster had it right that NYC venues book up quickly. We almost went with10/9 or 10/11, until finding a great venue.

Event planning is part of my job, and I'm also just a big planner in general, so, I have QUITE A BIT done. The FI and I became engage on 10/30/14 and we already had the venue by 11/7/14. The venue includes tables, linens, catering, servers, cake, and a place for the ceremony, so that crossed a lot of major things of the list. As of now, I have:

    Venue (reception & ceremony)
    Catering
    DJ
Videographer (got a deal by using same business for DJ and Videography)
Photographer (got a deal by using them for our engagement pictures, which were done in November, with final prints in December).
Dress (I'm from TX, so I had to try on dresses with my mom during the brief time I was home for Christmas)
Bridesmaid dresses (all but one bridesmaid has ordered)
Save the Dates (were sent out the first week of this month)
Created kids activity book for all children attending
Made my own broom for ceremony
Booked officiant and had first counseling session
Put down deposit on rehearsal dinner location
Secured FREE wedding rehearsal location (using same hotel in which we have block of rooms)
Blocked rooms at 5 nearby hotels
    Created two registries
Confirmed location for wedding welcome party
Confirmed location for post wedding brunch
    Secured makeup artist
    Secured hair stylist
Ordered both of our wedding rings (we still need to engrave)
Posted all this info on my wedding website

My FI does graphic design, so he designed our save the dates, and is almost done with the invitation and all enclosure cards. We used a service to print the save the dates, and will do so again for all other stationery. The FI's sisters are hosting our engagement party, happening next month, and in May, I'm going home for the first dress fitting, and to buy bridal accessories, though I already have the necklace, bracelet and shoes.

Basically, I have a pretty intense Google folder with all my Google docs, lol. :)
  • Officially less than 6 months to go!! :):):):)

What does everyone have left to do? Any stress starting to pop up?

  • FIND SHOES
    Jewelry/Headband
    Cake Topper
I have all of my DIY's to do:Table #'s, Sand Ceremony,Chalk Boards, Arch, Guest Board
I also have to order our wedding bands
Print out the invites (I bought kits)
    Make programs
    Pay all the vendors
Stock up on Liqour/Mixers/Soda for the bar

  • I'm doing a DIY wedding...exhausting! However, I think I've planned it out ahead of time enough to complete (almost) all of the tasks. Mostly I'm making giant paper flowers up the wa-zoo! Doing a paper flower wedding arch.

  • less than a month!! 26 days left!!

How is every one doing? I had my Bachlorette party Saturday, it was a lot of fun!
I am So excited, nervous, and tired.. ready for it to be over with, and on our cruise! anyone else have all these mixed emotions about it all!?

  • Yes to the mixed emotions. I am really excited, nervous, apprehensive (I don't know why, everything will be fine, we have backups for the backups...) and really just ready to get married and party with our closest people.

It feels crazy that it's so soon now too, because we've been engaged for almost two years.... it seemed like it was always a ways away, and now it's here! Kind of surreal.

  • 15 DAYS TO GO!!!

We visited our reception site, and the ceremony site, for seating plans and any last minute decor. I cant wait to see it decorated! Our venue is an old mansion that has been converted into a reception hall. I am not decorating the church but I needed to see how to hang the reserved signs, and tables for the bubbles, and programs.

All I have left to do is:

*Pack stuff according to where it is going, ceremony, reception, and getting ready supplies.
    *figure out my rehearsal outfit
*Working on breaking in my shoes, even though they are both pretty comfortable already.
    *Pack for the cruise
    *Pamper myself
*Put my centerpieces together, hydrate water beads, and put them in the jars
    *get my dress steamed
*decide and get drinks and snacks (it is from 2P-5P so snacks should keep them happy) for WP

My FI said Monday "It feels like yesterday we were 40 days away, now all the sudden we are in the teens and it will be here before you know it!"
