  What about ... How Sweet it is (to be loved by you)! I also LOVE James Taylor and so does my dad.  I never thought doing a first dance to it, what a great idea!

  Thank you for ruling out "Daughters" - it's super inappropriate for a father/daughter dance.  It's literally about girls with daddy issues lol.  I'll never understand why people want to dance to this song

  I can't really think of songs by John Mayer or Alanis, but maybe "Only One" or "How Sweet it Is (To Be Loved By You)" by James Taylor?
  

  Good luck!!  I'm doing "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," by Stevie Wonder.  It was my parents first dance, so I thought it would be really cute to have it as my father/daughter dance

  Alanis Morissette has "Princes Familiar." Not sure it's the most appropriate, but it comes to mind. I danced with my dad to "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion.
