He came home, yesterday, with a DVD of the first season of "The Love Boat" series from 1977, just after we were married!  Very romantic of him, since we cruise a lot now.  Ha,ha!  The men's clothes and haircuts from 1977 look silly, but the women actually look pretty good!  Lots of halter top dresses.

That's so sweet. I loved watching that.

It's really funny to watch it.  The ship is TINY!  The crew mingles and socializes with the guests.  (That's grounds for being fired!)  No foreign nationals working as room stewards and ship crew.   Most of the passengers are professional models, especially by the pool.  The rooms don't seem to have locks.  No ship's security.  Is EVERY night formal nigh?
Anyway, Gavin McLeod still looked good in shorts.

What year did you take your first cruise, CMGr?  Dining has gotten really relaxed over the years so it wouldn't surprise me if it was more formal most nights...but I'm sure television bumps it up a few notches. :)

2001, our 25th wedding anniversary.  That is when I discovered hat DH can cruise stress free, but travel on land turns him into a screaming, hysterical, control freak!
Our first cruise was on the Sun Princess.  This was the first ship that Princess cruise line had custom built for them.  Their fleet was made up of ships bought from other cruise lines.  Most of those ships are gone, now that everybody is building mega-ships.

I took a Mediterranean Cruise on the Pacific Princess.   One of the best trips I've every taken.   Every time I see the Love Boat I think of the that trip.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

There is a new Pacific Princess now.  Much more up to date.  http://www.princess.com/learn/ships/pa/

The Princess Pacific was the boat we took our HM on.  First (and only) cruise so far.
