Do pre-cana completion certificates expire?

edited September 2014 in New York-New York City
Do pre-Cana completion certificates ever expire the way that marriage licenses do? As in, do I have to take a pre-Cana class within a maximum set number of months before the wedding or can I take it whenever and it will be valid forever (for example, if I have a long engagement, can I do the pre-Cana class right away and it will still be valid whenever I do end up getting married)?

from what we have been told  is that you need to register for a pre cana class not less then 2 months before the class but 6 months before the wedding
